THAT’S A WRAP ON BRADFORD SUMMER SCHOOL! ☀️

What a week it’s been! Our Bradford Summer School has come to an end after a week full of fun, laughter, creativity and confidence-building, all while creating a show in just five days!

Our students have worked incredibly hard to put together an amazing showcase, which family and friends came along to watch the show last night. From learning new dance routines and poems to auditioning for group and solo pieces, they have had the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and discover new aspects of performance in a fun and supportive environment. And, of course, we couldn’t finish the week without a Stage 84 Fish & Chip Friday!

A huge thank you to all the family and friends who came along to support our students and celebrate their hard work. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our teachers and team for their creativity, energy and dedication throughout the week.

What a way to finish our Bradford Summer School! Now, it’s onto Skipton for Play in a Week! 🎭

REHEARSALS WITH OUR PATRON, EMMA WILLIAMS ✨

Last week, Stage 84 was proud to perform as part of Summer Night of Musicals at Stage at the Lake in Shibden Park, Halifax - a spectacular open-air concert celebrating the park’s centenary.

The event brought together stars of stage and screen, a live orchestra led by Matthew J. Loughran, and guest performers including our very own Stage 84 students. Our huge thanks to Handful of Keys Theatre Company for producing such a wonderful and prestigious event.

In the days leading up to the concert, we were delighted to welcome Stage 84 patron Emma Williams back to our studios to rehearse numbers from the programme with our students.

Emma attended Stage 84 for several years before beginning an extraordinary professional career. Her early screen work included The Parole Officer, before, at just 18, she was cast as Truly Scrumptious opposite Michael Ball in the original West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Since then, she has performed extensively across stage and screen, receiving a WhatsOnStage Award and four Olivier Award nominations for her performances in Love Story, Zorro, Mrs Henderson Presents and Half a Sixpence.

It is always very special to welcome Emma back to Stage 84, and even more so to see her working alongside the next generation of young performers before sharing the stage with them in Halifax.

More wonderful memories made for our students, and a real honour for Stage 84 to have been part of such a memorable event. 💜

BIG SMILES AT SUMMER SCHOOL! ☀️

We’re officially halfway through Summer School, and the smiles say it all!

It’s been a busy week of singing, dancing and acting, with students learning classic numbers from some of their favourite musicals. They’ve had opportunities to sing as a group and take on solo moments. 🎶

Our students are working incredibly hard as they prepare for their Musical Theatre Showcase in just one week, with plenty of laughter, energy and, of course, BIG smiles along the way!

We can’t wait to see all their hard work come together on Friday.
Bring on the rest of the week!

Did someone say summer school?! ☀️

Bradford Summer School is well underway at the Old Bell Chapel, and what a fantastic first couple of days it’s been!

Our Musical Theatre Week has been packed with singing, dancing, acting, script work and learning new musical numbers. From Oliver! to Shrek, our students have had the chance to explore some of their favourite musicals and even choose songs they love - including one very special choice from the World Cup! ⚽🎶

It’s been a room full of fun, laughter, creativity and new friendships, with everyone getting stuck in and bringing their own energy to the stage.

And this is only Day 2… we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings! 🎭

OLD BELL CHAPEL RENOVATION! 🎭

Recently, one of our students, Isaac, joined us for work experience. While exploring the Stage 84 archives, he came across this wonderful photo album documenting the renovation of the Old Bell Chapel, before it reopened for use in 1992.

Many of our current students will never have seen these photographs, yet they capture the transformation of a space that has since welcomed generations of young performers through its doors.

Today, the Old Bell Chapel remains at the heart of Stage 84 – filled with young people building confidence, developing their skills in the performing arts and working towards their own aspirations.

We’re incredibly proud of this beautiful, light-filled building and the role it has played in the Stage 84 story. More than three decades after these photographs were taken, it continues to provide a home for the next generation of performers.

And tomorrow, its doors open once again as we welcome our 2026 Musical Theatre Summer School cohort into the studio. We can’t wait!
