MVF Bridgend 1 - 9 MVF Swansea Gwyr
A very tough game for the boys this past Sunday, coming up against a well organised and clinical Swansea Gwyr team.
Gwyr started the game strong, going 4-0 up in the first 30 minutes. But for the remainder of the first half, the boys dug in and came close with a few good chances.
Second half was more of the same from the away team, putting another 3 goals in. But a well worked team move, finished off by a great header from Callum saw a clean sheet disappear for Gwyr. Plenty of chance followed for Bridgend, but none of which could be converted.
The scoreline definitely didn’t reflect the performance, with every single player in black putting an unreal amount of effort in. Regardless of the result, the boys stayed positive and plenty of smiles and laughs shared at the full time whistle!
Player of The Match was George, stepping in to make his goalkeeping debut in the Cymru Cup, and made some absolutely outstanding saves before coming outfield and making some fantastic tackles in the last 15 minutes.
Our next game is a friendly vs Nantgarw Connect. It comes with a chance to rebuild some confidence ahead of the next round of Cymru Cup fixtures.

⚽️ SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT AND STARTING 11 ⚽️
Another week, another Cymru Cup fixture for the mighty Bridgend boys. This time, Swansea Gwyr make the trip down to Pencoed for the fourth game of our cup campaign.
The lads will be looking to remain undefeated, but a tough test awaits, as the last time this fixture was played, the away team came out on top as 3-1 winners.

A fantastic effort in midfield from our number 6, topping the day off with 2 gorgeous assists in the cold windy weather. Well played and well deserved!

⚽️ MVF BRISTOL 4-4 MVF BRIDGEND ⚽️
This past Sunday saw the MvF Bridgend boys make the trip across the bridge in dreadful conditions to face a well organised Bristol side.
Bridgend opened the game on the front foot with some lovely passing moves and threatening the Bristol keeper, but it was the home side that broke the deadlock with a penalty kick that Luffy couldn’t quite get to.
The lads continued to chip away at the Bristol box, before finally beating the keeper with a fantastic strike from Lewis Bolt on the edge of the box into the bottom corner to level the game.
With Bridgend playing into the heavy wind, Bristol found their way back ahead with a long distance strike into the far corner to take them into half time at 2-1 up.
Second half Bridgend came out of the blocks fast, with a fantastic curling equaliser from Luffy, leaving the keeper no chance, before a perfectly placed free kick from Jamie into the Bristol box was met on the volley by Gavin for his first goal in the Cymru Cup! Luffy then danced along the edge of the opposition box, before hitting another well placed effort past the Bristol keeper to take the score to 4-2.
Both teams battled deep into the second half, with Bristol taking advantage and nicking a goal back, before heartbreakingly for Bridgend, equalising with the last kick of the game after a shot took a wicked deflection and nestled into the bottom corner.
A feisty well battled affair in the end saw the points shared, with Bridgend keeping our unbeaten start to the campaign in tact.

Our Player of The Match as voted by the squad for our previous outing away at Newport was Lewis Bolt!
3 assists on the day for Lewis on top of running the fullbacks ragged topped off a fantastic win for Bridgend. An excellent performance all round from our number 0!

Coming off the back of a dominating 7-2 winning display away at Newport, round 3 of the MVF 11s Welsh Cup is fast approaching.
Some new faces in the squad as we look ahead to a trip across the bridge to Bristol, a team we shared the spoils with in last years cup with an entertaining but tough 4-4 draw.
