We’ll all be starting from the same foundations together, building confidence, fitness, friendships and a team spirit from day one. 🙌

That’s a wrap on the 25/26 season for Broadlands AFC Women, the first ever season for this team, and what a season it’s been.

From the very first session to the final whistle, this group has built something special. A season full of hard work, growth, challenges, laughs and plenty of moments we’ll remember for a long time.

For those of us volunteering with this group, and those of us who’ve been around football for years, this team has genuinely reignited that love for the game. This group of players have reminded us exactly why we love football. Their commitment, attitude and togetherness have been something special to be part of.

But it’s not just the players. We’ve been so impressed by the support on the sidelines over the last few months. Week after week it’s grown, and it’s never gone unnoticed. And come rain or shine, Mr David Smith ’ commitment to being there for every fixture has been incredible and means a lot to everyone involved.

It’s hard to believe it’s only been two days and we’re already missing it, but that says everything about the kind of group this is.

To every player, coach, volunteer, supporter and everyone who’s been part of this first chapter, thank you. You’ve helped create something special, and this really does feel like only the beginning.

We can’t wait for season 26/27. The future is exciting and these women are something else.

We’re bringing the whole club together for a massive day of celebrations. From our minis and juniors right through to youth, women’s and senior teams 🧡🖤

A disappointing end to our ladies’ season in what we had hoped would be a much closer contest against deserved league champions Ponthir.

The afternoon got off to the worst possible start as we conceded cheaply from an early corner. Although we briefly grew into the game and looked to hit our hosts on the break, we struggled to create clear-cut chances. Two more goals soon followed, both resulting from our inability to clear the box and conceding far too easily.

The game was effectively over as a contest by the 26th minute when the impressive Amelia Boros made it 4–0. Just before half time, a weakly struck free kick found its way into the net to make it 5–0. Matters were made worse by a moment of frustration from our keeper, who picked up two quick bookings, and we went down to 10 players.

A stern half-time team talk brought a strong and positive response. The second half showed real spirit and character from our girls one of the few positives to take from the day. Ponthir added two more goals in a hard-fought second period, one slipping through our keeper’s legs and the other a superb finish that no goalkeeper would have saved.

A big thank you to our hosts for their hospitality after the game, and congratulations on a fantastic season. Special mentions go to stand-in keeper Berni Collins for an excellent performance, along with Sophia Campion, Sian Baker, Mo Schoekkenbroek, and Jess Willis and more for their efforts on the day.

We now have a few weeks off before our presentation in June, followed by pre-season as we prepare for our second year in competitive football.

There are many people to thank: Rachel Gavin for her vision and hard work in establishing the team over the past two years; coaches Josh Smith, Billy Gavin, Kristian Gavin, each and every player and Rob Pinches for their dedication and commitment; and all of our sponsors without your support, this team wouldn’t exist. 🧡🩶🖤

⚽ MATCHDAY ⚽

This Sunday, 3rd May, we travel to face the well deserved league winners, Ponthir AFC Women, in our final game of the season.

It’s set to be a great occasion as we round off the campaign and join in the celebrations afterwards with a BBQ together 🍔🔥

We’d love to see plenty of support for the team as they take to the pitch one last time this season. Your support has meant everything throughout the year.

The club are extremely proud of how the Broadlands AFC Women have worked and developed this season. The commitment, effort and togetherness shown from everyone involved has been brilliant, and we’ve loved every minute of it.
