We are local growers of Christmas Trees selling direct to the general public who choose their tree growing in the field and have it cut when convenient for them.
In December we supply our own home-grown Xmas trees. Customers are encouraged to select their own tree in the field and have it cut fresh for collection.
Operating as usual
[12/11/20] Can't get my messages at the moment so please contact us by phone 01656 861956 or email us at [email protected].
Still lots of trees available. Indeed we never run out as there are always trees in the ground.
[11/13/20] If you haven't done so already you are welcome to come and choose your Christmas tree. Open every day during daylight hours. Labels in shed. Let us know if you haven't been before or need to be shown where the trees are. Stands also available and a small number of pot grown trees too.
[10/15/20] Apologies if this gets posted twice. Just to say two varieties of Christmas trees grown here (Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir ) but we don't grow Pumpkins!
[10/13/20] Here's hoping that you are all well in these uncertain and difficult times. We have been asked if we are open for the viewing and labelling of the trees and yes we are open now and you are welcome to come from now on.
Many thanks to all our regular and new customers who have got their trees from us. We appreciate your support. And if any of your friends still haven't got a tree we never run out; we still have lots of lovely trees both Nordmann in the 5-6' size and a great selection of Norway Spruce all sizes up to 7'. Open daylight hours. Bring wellies.
We still have lots of lovely trees, Nordmann Fir up to 6' and a great selection of Norway Spruce up to 7-8', the traditional sort and ideal and very affordable if you don't need your tree too early. In fact we never run out of trees here on the farm because they are growing in the ground and never bought in. So pop over if you haven't done so already to choose a tree, either for collection later in the month or to take away with you.
Here is a picture of a typical pot grown tree. Mainly Norway Spruce and up to 5-6' from the floor. Smaller ones available. £25 regardless of size.
Just to say that we have lots of Xmas trees available for reserving. We are open every day during daylight hours; there are clear instructions in the packing shed on the right hand side as you come into the yard. Labels are there and directions to the trees. We grow two sorts - Nordmann Fir which are low needle drop, best sort to get if you need to have your tree early in December and Norway Spruce, the traditional kind. The Norway are reputed to drop more needles but should be fine if cut from the middle of December. All trees benefit from being in a stand which holds plenty of water and all are best in a room which is not too hot. The Nordmann are £6 per foot, the Norway are £5 per foot and the pot grown trees are £25 each.
You are welcome to come and choose your Christmas tree. All sizes up to 7-8 foot. Both Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir. Pot grown trees also available. Open daylight hours. Bring wellies

[10/06/19] People are starting to enquire about choosing a Christmas tree. We are happy from now on for folks to come over to the farm to choose a tree. Bring wellies as the grass is always wet at this time of the year. Any queries phone us on 01656 861956 or email us at [email protected]. Look forward to seeing you.
People often assume that Christmas trees just grow without any attention or work on them. We have just finished trimming all the Norway Spruce so that they hopefully look their best for later in the autumn. Here are two 'before' and 'after' pics.
Still got plenty of trees. Indeed we never run out as all our trees are grown by us on the farm and each one is cut fresh to order. A perfect time now to get a traditional Norway Spruce as cutting closer to Christmas will minimise needle drop. Pot grown trees also still available.
We still have lots of lovely trees if you haven't already chosen one. Open every day during daylight hours including Sundays. And the weather forecast is better for tomorrow!
We have Christmas trees in the field for reserving. We start cutting these in December. However, we also have pot grown trees available earlier, sizes from 3' to 5' plus. See photo.
Just a reminder that Eva of The Flower Hive is hosting a "Dig-Up Party" on Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th October 10-2pm. Try and come at 10.00am and Eva will show you the plants (herbaceous perennials and dahlias). £2.50/clump, bring your own fork or spade.
And while you're at the farm take the opportunity to choose your Christmas tree if you haven't already done so!
Xmas Trees 2018

Oxe-eye daisies between the raspberry beds
You are now welcome to come and choose a Xmas tree, either for fresh cutting near to Xmas or a tree which is growing in a pot.

[10/13/17] It's nearly that time again .... but not quite. From Saturday 28th October, i.e. the beginning of half term week we shall be open for reserving Christmas trees.
Here are the Raspberries
For lovers of Raspberries ... Come and pick your own at Pencoed ... Doesn't matter if it's raining as they're under cover.

This is the way our mechanic left us a note following his maintenance work on our flail mower.
[11/20/16] Just an update on the Christmas tree situation this year. It's been great to see so many coming to choose trees; we still have some nice Nordmann about 5-6' and also some lovely pot grown Norway Spruce. We are short of taller trees this year; when we started planting 8-10 years ago we weren't planting enough each year because we had no idea what demand would be further down the line. We upped the planting rate about four years ago but it will take a year or two for us to have a bigger choice available. However, for the first weekend in December and to help plug the gap we shall be buying in some freshly cut larger trees 6-7' from a local grower near Newport so you are welcome to pop over that weekend to have a look.
Another diversification - we have listed our spare room on Airbnb. So if you have friends or relatives coming this way that you can't accommodate then tell them to check out our listing on www.airbnb.com. Search for 'Pencoed'. Scroll to the right below to see some of our photos.
[12/10/15] In response to the person who asked if we still have trees in the field available for cutting - yes, we do but depends on what size or type you are looking for. We still have pot grown trees available as in photo below.
As well as trees in the ground for cutting we also have pot grown Norway Spruce that can either be grown on in pots or planted out in the garden.
It's that time of the year again! Time to choose a Christmas tree.
We've got traditional Norway Spruce (nice Christmassy smell; they actually don't drop many needles if they are well watered, in a cool room and not put up too early) and we have Nordmann Fir (low needle drop).
Our Aronia Berry harvest is in full swing, having managed to keep the blackbirds off them this year. They are extremely rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and anthocyanins and can be added to breakfast cereals, smoothies, cakes, crumbles; in fact they can be used in the same way as any other soft fruit. They freeze well.
So come and give them a try.
We are approaching a berry bonanza, now picking redcurrants, the traditional (sharper) variety of blackcurrants and starting to pick the autumn raspberries
The blackcurrants are ready for picking so come along to the farm to get some. They freeze really well so that we can enjoy them throughout the winter too. This week we will have them ready-picked (£8.00 per kg) or you can PYO (£6.00/kg).
Our dessert blackcurrants (the big sweet ones!) are ripening nicely, as are the gooseberries. Should be ready by the first week in July so make some space in your freezer. We've put willow hoops with Enviromesh over the top in order to stop the blackbirds picking them before we do.
May has been a busy month pruning the Christmas Trees and putting special sticks on the tops to stop the birds perching on the leaders and damaging them

We grow Christmas Trees which customers are welcome to come and view and reserve from October onwards. Reserved trees are then cut fresh in December the day before required so they have the longest possible life. Two varieties - Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir. Advice also available on caring for your tree.
Some home grown soft fruit also available from the freezer.
