So excited to have an obstetric anaesthetist coming along to talk at my pregnancy yoga this Sunday 5pm at Gather Brighton CIC | community yoga + wellbeing
It's not common to see an anaesthetist during pregnancy so this is your chance to ask ALL the questions. We'll be talking pain relief option, maternal assisted caesarean, and all the ways an anaesthetist can support your birth.
There are spaces currently available but I expect this will be a popular one!

There's such a huge mix of emotions when your almost 1 and a half year old cries out "baaack" when they're sad and sick.
Heartbroken.
Proud.
Relieved.

I'm so excited to have a biscuit in at Gather Brighton CIC | community yoga + wellbeing
You might think its odd to have a biscuit tin at a yoga studio but we are so much more than that. I thought I'd share three reasons why this tin is important to me.
1. Yoga has been appropriated to mean exercise and weight loss to many people. This biscuit tin indicates that we are a fat positive space and we will never discuss weight, weight loss, or diets in our classes or treatments.
2. We don't do transactional yoga. At Gather you are invited to make yourself at home, put on the kettle for a cuppa and help yourself to a biccy. This is a space for meaningful connections and building community.
3. I love baking and used to bring home made vegan baking to all of my classes. Life with a toddler means this doesn't happen very often now, and shop bought biscuits are not a real replacement, but this tin represents the intention to fill it with home made vegan goodies occasionally.
It's not a particularly beautiful biscuit tin at the moment (I found it at the back of a drawer at home). So if you want to gift us a new biscuit tin, you'll get first pic of the biccys for life!
p.s. gluten free friends, I have not forgotten you. The gluten free biscuits are stored separately so they're not accidentally eaten by everyone else.

I'm on the train to London to meet some of my oldest friends so I thought I would tell you a bit about the pregnancy yoga talk I'm doing tomorrow about caesarean births.
We will discuss some of reasons someone my choose a caesarean, some reasons one might be recommended, and some alternatives to caesarean. We will also cover the different categories - there's more than just 'emergency' and 'elective'.
We'll cover how to prepare for a caesarean, what to expect beforehand and what actually happens in the room. Who will be there and what actually happens during the procedure. We'll think about what choices you have, how you can make it more person centred, gentle caesarean and maternal assisted caesarean.
Of course we'll talk about caesarean recovery, postnatal planning, and infant feeding. As always there's lots of time for questions and in September we have a local obstetric anaesthetist coming to talk who can answer all your questions about anaesthetic and pain relief.
You can book your space through Gather Brighton CIC | community yoga + wellbeing or the link in my bio.
