This weekend sees us take a break from league action to take part in the South East Club Cup. The teams will battle it out first of all in a stroke play event to decide where the 6 teams place in a league format. The top 2 teams will earn themselves a semi final place in the Matchplay event to follow. The remaining 4 teams will play a quarter final match to find the remaining 2 teams for the semi final. A final will then take place to determine the overall winner of this year’s South East Cup.

INTERNATIONAL DUTY 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️⛳️

Congratulations to our 3 Brighton players who will go on International duty this weekend to represent England in a 4 Nations competition against Ireland, Scotland and this year’s host nation Wales. The event takes place over Saturday and Sunday where the 4 nations will go head to head in a matchplay format to determine the champion nation. Both Josh and Rich were part of the England team who won the competition for the first time 2 years ago. Good luck to our 3 representatives from Brighton and the rest of the England team this weekend!

Brighton FGC vs Gatwick FGC — Match Report 12-22

Brighton Footgolf Club hosted Gatwick FGC in what proved to be a dramatic league fixture, played on a course made particularly challenging by recent dry weather, with slick, fast greens demanding precision from every player throughout the day.
The stroke play leaderboard was topped in style by Gatwick’s Dave Shaw , who delivered an outstanding round of -13 to claim overall honours. Brighton’s Josh Paton and Jojo Kepsta followed in 2nd and 3rd respectively, with Kepsta also taking the Seniors category and Richard Philp the Seniors runner-up spot. Further recognition went to Zee (Svetozar Popov) and Alex Ross-Scott who claimed 1st and 2nd in the Rookies category, Claire Williams who took the Ladies prize, and Jamie Hammond who won the Juniors.
Brighton edged the stroke play points 12–9, setting up what would become one of the tightest matchplay contests the fixture has seen in recent years. The Brighton side featured Zee and Simon Gander in the top five for the first time, both having thoroughly earned their places with strong stroke play performances, and both rose brilliantly to the occasion.
The matchplay went to the wire — and it was the final hole that ultimately swung it Gatwick’s way. The scoreline may not fully reflect just how close the contest was, but full credit to Gatwick FGC, who held their nerve when it mattered most and got over the line 👏🏽
For Brighton, the result is a disappointment — but the spirit, sportsmanship and camaraderie shown throughout the day were, as ever, a real credit to the club. A special mention goes to Rhys Lindner, who played his first ever league fixture for Brighton FGC and did himself and his dad Matt proud.
The team will regroup and look to bounce back at the next league fixture. 💙⚽

Finally, on a more personal note, everyone at Brighton Footgolf Club would like to send their love and thoughts to Danza Hamilton, whose mother was taken ill yesterday and is currently in hospital. The whole club is wishing her a full and speedy recovery. 💙
