Thank you to everyone who came to see me at ARM. I hope you enjoy your purchases and come back to me if there is anything I can make for you.

Lovely to see everyone, although our journey home was a bit eventful, taking nearly 10 hours for an 80 mile journey!

Hopefully see you all and do it all again in November!

Hats are often symbolic of something greater than a piece of headwear. An example of this is the Welsh Hat I made for a customer who is walking around the country to raise money for various charities. If you have the opportunity to support her causes she has a just giving page which can be found via https://www.welshwomanwalking.co.uk/

Best of luck with your journeys!

Just in case you are looking for a Thimblebee hat, I’m just reassuring you that I am still working hard. My website is unfortunately temporarily unavailable due to my provider changing their software and not providing a way to transfer the site to their new software 🤦‍♀️. This means I have to rebuild the site from scratch but I hope to have it up and running shortly.

In the meantime, I have a small presence on Etsy and can be contacted through [email protected]

Day 1: Intro. My name is Beryl and I am a trained milliner specialising in historic hats. I have been making hats for around 9 years and trade as Thimblebee Millinery. I just love hats … this means I don’t restrict myself to one period but make hats from all sorts of eras. I especially like the Victorian period as there is such a range of styles to choose from and I specialise in felt hats, although I do also make hats using other mediums. Looking forward to posting on as many days as I can for fallforcostume and thanks to for hosting.

My first early19th century round top hat. Made with a round crown rather than an oval one. Really gives the hat a ‘presence’.

Bonnets for Museums. These are for the SS Great Britain in Bristol. Specially made to stand the rigours of visitors trying them on!
