Had to snap a little pic of this Ultimate CF SL when out on a test ride following a service. It's as fast as it looks!
In other news, the sun has made its annual appearance which means we are getting a bit busier - we are still taking walk ins but we thoroughly recommend giving us a heads up or booking online before popping your bike in.
See you soon!

Do you need a new bike? Or does your trusty old steed just need a refresh?
New bikes are great, but they also cost a fortune to buy and maintain.
This Giant TCR is without a doubt a fast bike, even if advertising wants you to believe it isn't. Especially with the up to date R7000 105 Group we have just fitted to it.
Not only fast though - it's an absolute breeze to service. External cables? Check. Spare parts that are stocked by every workshop? Check. Headset bearings that can be replaced without cutting any cables/hoses? Check. 34t cassette capable of climbing any hill you can point out on a map? Check.

It's not often you see a tricked out tandem!
We've had the pleasure of fitting a few upgrades to this awesome Supremo, and the result is the fasest tandem we've ever come across.

This Cannondale popped in yesterday for free inspection, and we just can't get enough of the paintjob.
have always stood out from the crowd but this one is off the scale!

Loose connections between the rear and front lights on a dynamo equipped bike.
It appears the connectors on this cable have seen better days, which was resulting in inconsistent power to the rear light.
A few spade connectors and a bit of heatshrink later, we're back in business.
Let there be light, on both ends of the bicycle.
Following on from yesterday's hub service, I wanted to explain why the entire freehub body was replaced.
In the video are the new and old FHBs side by side - you'll notice the splines on the old one are severely damaged, along with the anti-bite guard missing.
Lightweight FHBs are mostly made of aluminium alloys, meaning that they are considerably softer than the steel sprockets of most cassettes, leading to this specific failure particularly with stronger riders.
Cassettes with integrated carriers can help to spread the load over a larger area, often preventing the issue.

A hub service carried out on a nice carbon wheelset.
Two last pics show a couple of (many) cracked alloy ni***es we discovered.
Either caused by fatigue (strong rider and plenty of miles) or incorrect tools being used when truing the wheel previously - certain types of lightweight ni***es should only be driven from the head, as the threaded part sits considerably further up the ni**le, meaning the portion of the body that protrudes through the rim is mostly an unthreaded bore. Turning it with a conventional spoke wrench usually results in a sheared/ cracked ni**le.
We have sourced some OEM ni***es for this wheel to retain the spec, and the customer will be back on the road in no time.
Check your ni***es everyone!

We will be closing for xmas at the end of next week (Saturday 20/12 being our last day on the tools). Opening again on Sat 03/01.
If you have any last minute repairs or bike shaped presents in need of assembly, you know where to find us.
Thank you to all of our customers who have popped their bikes in this year and made Roltec Cycles possible!
See you all again next year!
Merry Xmas from Andre and Jesse x
