COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

We are thrilled to announce that Ashley Challenger has joined our coaching team for the upcoming 2026/27’ season. Ash is a home grown player currently operating in the Championship.
Boo will be coming back to his boyhood club overseeing the forwards & defensive systems as he looks to start his coaching journey alongside his playing duties at Worcester Warriors

Ashley knows the club inside out and has proudly come through our mini/junior section before progressing into the seniors and enjoying rugby at a 1st XV level. Since then he has enjoyed spells at Dings, Hartpury RFC, Chartres Rugby, London Scottish, Bristol Bears Rugby & most recently Worcester Warriors.

His experience at these levels will be a huge asset to us as a club and we look forward to seeing the boys soak up his knowledge. Ash will be running scrum clinics throughout the season at the club where players from all sides can benefit from.

The RFU have recently released new of the teams in our 1st and 2nd XV leagues for the coming season… Great to see the 1st XV back up to 12 teams in the league & to see who our 2nd XV will face off against in their maiden year of Counties 4 South. ⚫️🔴⚫️

We await news of our Avonmouth Claires Ladies & 3rd XV league line ups for the new season.

Funeral Details 🕊️

The family of Barrie Watkins (“The Plank”) wish to announce his funeral service will take place on Tuesday 9th June at 2:00pm at St Mary’s Church in Shirehampton Village BS119SB

Following the service, there will be a private family-only cremation at Canford Crematorium,Westbury On Trym.

Barrie asked for no black attire.

All Family and friends are encouraged to wear bright colours or a club association tie and or blazer in celebration of his life.

Afterwards, all are welcome to join the family at Avonmouth Rugby Club Barracks Lane BS11 9NG to continue sharing memories and celebrating Barrie’s life.
