Gathering of the Allies is a geopolitical alliance original short film set in the world of Phantasia. The film explores themes of power, trust and betrayal, fear and responsibility, cultural division, and the fragility of peace.

As darker magic from the west threatens to plague the southern continent of Phantasia, two young Paraithian royals take a desperate measure and call for aid across realms - something that hasn’t been done in over a century. An alliance is reborn but not without its difficulties. Tensions run high and trust is low. However, when an unexpected outsider arrives with a new revelation, the young royals’ understanding of their world and the nature of the threat they face changes.

War is coming, whether they wish it or not. Will the realms of Phantasia be ready to fight it?"

In light of the fact I am awaiting the arrival of a RED raven which comes packed with a 120GB (£725.30) proprietary SSD I have been growing increasingly concerned with how on earth I will be able to manage recording in not particularly functional environments without having to constantly offload media, which I know is wise but there's not a lot that can be done sometimes when it comes to those situations.

With a 512GB SSD costing £2013.76 and 1TB £3204.10 this reality is really one I am fearing. Hours of research and complaining later my dad managed to find the gem JinniMag, a third party alternative to the RED Mini-Mag. Coming in at £1200 for a 512GB and £2000 for a 1TB the reality is becoming a bit more palatable. Better yet the 1TB version has three variants, a standard plug and play module, a module which has a USB 3 socket on the back end to offload media while its still inserted in the camera, and a USB C socket module weighing in at £2150 and £2225 respectively.

So all in all I am no longer consumed with doubt about my decision to go RED because there are now alternatives to their ludacrously expensive proprietary media. Having said that RED do create some of the best hardware in the industry and in some cases are bleeding edge so credit where credit is due and those hefty price tags support the company to create constantly evolving and better products. However it is a no from me, and I'm sure plenty of other entry level users will agree when it comes to pricing.

After 19 hours of waiting I'd only hit frame 196 of 600 doing this fluid simulation. Needless to say I was bored of waiting ~6 minutes per frame. Switched to the command line simulator and I'm now averaging an avg. of 33 seconds per frame.

39,342,181 particles with hybrido, bubbles & foam, and mist. Command line doesn't look as pretty as conventional rendering but it certainly seems a lot more efficient.
