My Motivational Monday !!
Heading off for my run this morning ( still half asleep ) a wee car went past me, big wave ! ( wasn't too sure who it was but gave a wave back ) trotted on for my run/jog, to then catch a glimpse of some folk on the beach opposite me, to then realise who had waved to me & the hurry they were in!! It was the girls going for the morning beach session with Melanie Jane Bell
...what a huge boost that gave me today!!

I am really starting to get the rewards at sticking to the routine of Mel's workouts, 3 times a week, benefits are huge.. Time for myself ! Changing shape, (7cm from waist), 5kg weight loss ! This is since 22nd June..

Much more motivated most days, some are a bit harder than others, but I'm trying to get the work, home balance, time for me balance on track !! If I can stick to this, anyone can.. Flexibility of the programme suits me, without the pressure to turn up somewhere on time, its sometimes that pressure too many..

Enjoying this way of improving diet and fitness and changing lifestyle for us all in our house, long may it last...

New Year's Day 5k!

Meeting on the bridge outside Keystore, Brora at 11am. There is a swim planned at 9am to give plenty time for both.

Let me know if you are going to join us for the run. Speed is not important, you go as fast or as slow as you are comfortable with. I'll be at the back and am more than happy to do some walking if needs be.

Food for thought as we enjoy this festive period and maybe a bit of motivation for those of you contemplating Dry January πŸ˜‰

As you may or may not know, I stopped drinking alcohol almost 4 years ago (and thrived, I might add). Over the last while I have introduced the odd glass of white wine, or a wee gin and tonic here and there.

Looking at sleep alone and how alcohol affects it, the graphs here speak for themselves. They are readings of my stress levels during sleep - 2 where I have had alcohol and 2 without.

An ideal stress level during sleep is 15 or below and it doesn't take much to affect your sleep.

Guess which ones are readings taken when I have had alcohol in my system?

This is all the motivation I need to get back on track - after the festivities, obvs πŸ˜‰

New Year's Day 5k, anyone?

I will be starting the day with a dip in the North Sea, followed shortly after with a 5k (or 10k). The run will suit all abilities. You go at whatever speed suits you - I will trot along at the back regardless of speed and there will be a cyclist on the course to keep an eye on us all too 😁

Of course she did it! You didn't even need to ask. Mighty Mo (Morag Pester) hit the 100kg today - and then some.

I won't work with weights to 1RM because your health and safety matters to me. And I will insist on perfect form. This was the result of 3 sets.

Moving on we will drop back a bit to around 85/90kg and build again from there. Comfortable, strong and safe progress. Go Mo! You're quite tremendous, really πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Stuck for a Christmas pressie for the ladies in your life? For some ridiculous reason (completely unknown to me) the topic of peri menopause and menopause is still pretty much taboo!?!

Gents, buy this for your woman folk (wives, girlfriends, sisters, daughters, mothers) and read it yourself too. The women in your life could very well be suffering in silence and will love you dearly for this - once they get into it πŸ˜‰

Ladies, treat yourself or get it to the top of your Christmas list. Age does not matter - if you are not as this stage of life yet, get reading and get armed. Menopause can hit like a sledgehammer affecting EVERY area of your life. Please don't underestimate, ridicule or be ashamed of it. Oh, and despite what you may hear, you are NOT too young for your body to enter this change!

I was exhausted with researching and trying all the natural remedies known to man - some definitely helped a bit, but this book has literally changed my life! I have it on Audible too and Davina had me in tears before I even got to the end of her reading the introduction. I'm most definitely not ashamed to say it made me pull my finger out and get an appointment with my GP to get started on HRT. I'm only two days on the patches but I'm pretty sure I am seeing positive results already 🀞

Hoodies on order.

Charcoal grey and burgandy 2 tone. Top picture will be printed across the back with small logo on front left chest. All printing will be in contrasting burgandy colour. There will also be the burgandy with grey print available if requested.

I haven't ordered many (only 2 of each size to be going on with) so if you still fancy one can you give me a shout so I can make sure I get one in your size - I can add to the order until next Tuesday.

T-shirts will also be available in both the burgandy and the grey.

It looks like these hoodies will be around £28 and t-shirts £15, but just waiting on confirmation of that. Obviously the more I order, the cheaper they become 😊

Bootcamp is small groups with a maximum of 5 in each group. Perfect if you haven't been involved in exercise for a while.

My Story

After some years of being unwell and overweight I decided to take responsibility for my own health and make some positive changes. Some years on and I have lost the weight and no longer have any need for medication - including my inhalers for asthma. I have run many half-marathons, seven full marathons and am always in training for the next one!

I realised that if I could get away from medication and hospital waiting rooms by making some positive lifestyle changes then surely there must be many more people out there who, with some encouragement and advice, could do the same.
