JIM & ZOE'S STORY - THE CHALLENGE BEGINS TOMORROW!

“We are gearing up to take on one of the toughest endurance challenges imaginable—Apex Everest—all in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) specifically Exmouth RNLI.

The mission is simple but formidable: to hike within 48 hours the equivalent height of Mount Everest - 8,848 metres of climbing in a single effort which is around 108km. A test of resilience, determination, and teamwork that will push us to our absolute limits. All taking place in the beautiful Lake District on Mount Helvellyn.

But for us, this challenge is about far more than personal achievement. We are hoping to raise vital funds for the RNLI, a charity that saves lives at sea around the UK and Ireland. Powered largely by volunteers and public donations, the RNLI’s crews head out in all conditions, day, or night, to help those in danger on the water.

With a deep appreciation for the coastline and the risks it can bring, we are committed to supporting the RNLI’s lifesaving work. Every climb, every mile, and every moment of effort is dedicated to helping ensure that help is always at hand when it’s needed most.

Our journey won’t be easy, but with determination, community support, and a powerful cause behind us, we are ready to rise to the challenge.

Ladies Champions: Scratch Champion Sophie Page (gross 163) and Handicap Champion Jane Walker (nett 148)

Men's Champions: Handicap Champion Andy Procter (nett 143) and Scratch Champion Lewis White (gross 145)

Junior Champion: Tyler Storry, who delivered an excellent display to claim both the Scratch and Handicap titles, gross 168 and nett 136

Ladies Vets Champions: Handicap Champion Alison Price (nett 65) and Scratch Champion Claire Dowling (gross 85)

Good luck to greenkeeper Jim and Zoe as they raise money for RNLI Exmouth

It can be a challenge, can't it? So, spare a thought for Jim Brooks and his partner, Zoe, who are gearing up to do considerably more to raise funds for Exmouth RNLI!

In just under two weeks time, on 11th September, Jim, one of the East Devon Golf Club greenkeepers, and Zoe will take on one of the toughest endurance challenges imaginable, Apex Everest, in support of our lifesaving work.

Their mission is simple but formidable; to hike the equivalent height of Mount Everest, a phenomenal 8,848 metres of climbing, in a single effort across 48 hours. It’s a test of resilience, determination, and teamwork that will push them to their absolute limits. It all takes place on Mount Helvellyn in the beautiful Lake District and Jim and Zoe will complete just over 9 ascents to complete the challenge.

For Jim and Zoe, this challenge is about far more than personal achievement. They’re raising vital funds for the RNLI. The charity's volunteer crews head out in all conditions, day or night, to help those in danger on the water. And with a deep appreciation for the coastline and the risks it can bring, Jim and Zoe are committed to supporting the RNLI’s lifesaving work.

Their journey won’t be easy but they’re ready to rise to the challenge. We wish them every success with their training and preparation and, of course, as they make their ascent in September.
