Girls Football Skills

Our Girls Football Skills event was hosted and delivered by Sports Coaching students from Burnley College. The students designed and delivered their own games looking at giving girls an introduction to the skills needed to play football. We then finished with some small sided matches that gave the girls a chance to put their skills in to practice.

Thank you to Burnley College for hosting and their students for delivering a very enjoyable afternoon!

Boccia

Our Panathlon Challenge Boccia Event was held Burnley College. The morning saw the students from Burnley College receive training and guidance on how to deliver a successful Boccia event and gain an understanding of the rules.

According to Boccia UK "Boccia is a Paralympic sport designed for athletes with high support needs and has no Olympic equivalent. It is a target sport played indoors with soft leather balls. It is a sport of intriguing tactics, incredible skill and nail biting tension."

Teams were then split into groups where they played matches against each other with the winners and runners up from each group making it through to the semi finals. Eventually, after several brilliant performances, Padiham St Leonard's took home the gold medal and went on to represent Burnley in the Panathlon Challenge County Finals.

Thank you to Burnley College for hosting and for their students running the event so well. A massive thank you to Debbie from Panathlon Challenge for the leader training and event delivery on the day!

Year 3/4 OAA

The Year 3/4 OAA event is always an enjoyable morning in the lovely setting of Towneley Hall.

The event looks at introducing basic map reading skills through our Pokemon Orienteering course, it also help develop communication and teamwork skills. In addition to the Orienteering, schools also take part in teambuilding activities that look to give children the chance to work as team, communicate and problem solve as they move along the different activities.

Well done to everyone who took part on the day, we hope you had a great time! A big thank you to Burnley College for their students, who came and volunteered their time to deliver the teambuilding stations and marshal the course.
