What a Lovely Sunny weekend to play football on!

We had the pleasure of facing Long Eaton Fatball in our third game of the year — and what a game it was! In sunny, breezy conditions, the fans were treated to an incredible TWELVE goals in a brilliant friendly between two teams building a fantastic friendship on and off the pitch. 🤝🔥

But the day was about far more than football.

Together, we proudly raised and donated £160 to Young Lives vs Cancer on behalf of Lindsey Stretton, wife of our midfield maestro, Keir Stretton.

To top it all off, Keir picked up BOTH our Player of the Match and the Opposition’s Player of the Match awards! 👏⚽
That’s what you call husband material — always stepping up for his wife and her incredible cause.

Recently, Lindsey completed the iconic London Marathon 2026 in support of Young Lives vs Cancer and we honestly couldn’t be more inspired by her achievement. Completing a marathon is incredible enough — doing it for such an important cause makes it even more special.

Young Lives vs Cancer supports children, young people, and their families from diagnosis onwards, helping them through treatment, recovery, and beyond. The charity also carries out vital research into the impact cancer has on young lives.

Lindsey has now raised an amazing £2,200+! 🙌

After our 4-0 win against Gresley Rovers Supporters Club in April, we are back for a home friendly against Fatball Longeaton this Sunday.

We will be presenting two Donation Cheques at the start of this game. Over the last few months we have been raising money for the Birmingham Children’s Hopsital on behalf of our very own Fin Middleton, whose family have been amazingly supported by them.

Ontop of that, our central midfield terrier Keir Stretton’s wife recently ran the London Marathon for Young Lives Versus Cancer, so a second donation will be made towards her great and amazing efforts in the marathon for a worthy cause.

Debuts for wingers Alex Hanney and Dom Roome and a warm welcome back to Ben Ellis Marriot, Connor Frankland and Jamie Silito who have been unavailable for the last few team selections.

After our first game of 2026 versus Mansfield Minds in March, we look ahead to the next fixture and what is becoming an annual fixture in our calendar. An away day at The Moat Ground, Gresley against the Gresley Rovers Supporters Club.

Our last game at The Moat Ground ended 1-1 with a header from Ben Ellis Marriott almost winning us the game but for a late late equaliser in what was our first ever competitive game. Have we progressed?

Derby Street FC are back for 2026!

We have given the lads the 🥶 winter ❄️ off (to play Sunday League) and now we are ready recharged and eager to get back on the green to play our next game!

Against Mansfield Mind FC we will be raising money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital a great cause as put forward by our young attacking wing back Fin!

Player Manager and Founder Dom Guest will be in charge, picking from a strong squad of 17 lads all ready to play in a competitive but friendly match!

We also have our centre back come centre mid come striker Ben Ellis Marriot entering the boxing ring for his first ever 🥊 fight 🥊this weekend! More details to follow!

During this weekends game at The Pingle Academy, we had the pleasure of meeting and welcoming Colin, a representative of the Alzheimer’s Society. A charity raising awareness funds and support for people and families affected by Alzheimer’s! The charity was nominated by our own attacking midfielder Toby Richards whose grandad was diagnosed with the illness. Founder Dominic Guest with support from players brilliantly arranged for Colin to attend our game and take some photos alongside seeing what we do and talk to the lads about the organisation and where our support will help.
Derby Street FC were extremely pleased to donate £200 towards Alzheimer’s Society and we had a nice fresh cheque board to show off for the donation.
Co Founder and Player Dominic Guest added;

“This team and group of lads are amazing, it does take a lot of time and effort getting the games organised and booked in but when we’re able to make donations like this and to see how the lads welcomed Colin into the group and listened to what he had to say it makes it all worth it. It’s a shame the weather wasn’t too great for Colin but he enjoyed a good first half and we were able to treat him to a couple goals before the weather turned. It’s a great contribution and I’m very proud to see that this group are so willing and keen to use football as a vessel to make a difference”.

A man of the match performance from Isaac Smith helped get Derby Street into a 3-1 lead before being pegged back by a well organised and hard working Burton Social FC team.
Goals from Isaac, Rhys and Dave Brealey weren’t enough to get the win, but Jack Lawrence in between the sticks made some strong and important saves to also keep the opposition at bay.
Dan Wilson (16) continued his growth into adults open age football at right back alongside captain and older brother Matt McCullagh.
With a few players playing 90 minutes in Sunday morning football and only one rotating sub, tired legs played a big part in the performance on a wet and dismal day, but there was plenty of positives with a controlled and patient display from the back.

We were ready to close for Christmas but the lads wanted to get back out on the turf one final time.
Our final fixture of this calendar year is against Burton Social FC! And we have a special Charitable Donation to make before kick off towards one of our chosen charities! Keep an eye on our socials for more information and photos!

Being a community / charity team with no league affiliation we run our “season” as a calendar year and therefore last night was our End of Year Awards.

Chairman, Founder and Player Manager Dom Guest and co-founder Player Manager Matt McCullagh were proud to present the followings awards.

Golden Boot - Nathan Berry (shout out to Ben Ellis Marriot for being second top Goalscorer)

Goal of the Year - Marks Avsjuk (shout out to Billy Saunders, Dave Brierley and Connor Wright for brilliant goals throughout the year)

Young Player of the Year - Finn Middleton

Managers Player of Year - Connor Wright

Captains Player of the Year - Scott Winebloom

Players Player of the Year - Jack Lawrence

It was also announced last night that a further £100 is to be donated to a chosen charity. More news and updates on the chosen charity to follow.

Thank you to everyone who attended last night and made it a great evening to remember but also to everyone who has helped, played, supported and played against us this year. Nothing can be achieved without the efforts of everyone.
