Unconventional and amazing, the Starboard Wing & Foiling Above doesn’t look like a surfboard because a surfboard-like shape doesn’t work so well for foiling. With volume where it’s useful, the Above is thinner above the foil for responsiveness and a balanced, efficient feel that allows you to foil earlier and use smaller wings and foils sooner. ABOVE 101L vs ACE FOIL LIGHTNING 101L

Ultra-efficient, the Ace Lightning’s sharp, long, narrow outline glides through the water with minimal resistance, promoting early lift to get onto foil in rapid time. Ideal for skilled riders both in SUP downwinding and light-wind winging.

The ABOVE in the same volume offers most of the Ace’s efficiency, in a more accessible package, with a big boost to stability. Increased width and balanced volume distribution (particularly in nose and tail) ensure it remains very stable underfoot when at rest or transitioning onto foil.

We had a great session testing foils on these boards a few weeks ago, with these shapes allowing us to test in very light winds where no other foilers even bothered trying 😎
