Clyde FC Community 2013's

The Reds turned up at Stepford this morning looking the part in their brand new kits knowing that anything less than 3 points would see them exit the CLYFA Challenge Cup at the group stage.

If the boys were feeling any pressure then they certainly didnt show it as they got off to a good start, knocking the ball around before opening the scoring when Kyle turned home a Ryan M corner from a tight angle to send Clyde into the lead.

Moorlands to their credit didnt let the early goal get to them and grew more and more into the game which combined with our boys getting a touch sloppy on the ball, Moorlands grabbed an equaliser pouncing on a loose ball after a corener into the Clyde box with 10 minutes of the 1st half to go. The scrappy affair continued for the rest of the 1st half and we headed into half time with the game tied and with work to do.

Half time saw a few changes to the Reds line up and they changes quickly paid off when AJ played a lovely through ball which found Jacob S who outpaced the defender before firing home with a great finish to restore the 1 goal advantage. 2 became 3 just a few minutes later when great play again played in Jacob S whos lofted pass found AJ in the box and a brilliant 1st touch brought the ball under control and with his 2nd touch fired an unstoppable volley past the keeper.

Clyde then controlled the rest of the half looking fairly comfortable and another through ball which split Moorlands wide open which saw their keeper pull off a great save to deny Jacob S his 2nd of the match though Zac S was on hand to pick up the scraps making it 4-1, slotting it past the keeper.

Overall a good display, especially 2nd half and we now look forward to a play off game for a place in the knockout stages which looked unlikely after a couple of early poor results in the competition, so massive credit to the all boys for dusting themselves down and doing what had to be done. 🇾🇪

With only 1 team in action this weekend, all eyes will be on our Reds as they go up against a familiar face in Moorlands Football Club in the final CLYFA A League Challenge Cup group stage match. With last season meetings between the 2 teams close affairs, this 1 will no doubt be equally as tough and will need everybody on top of their game to try and take the vital 3 points. 🇾🇪

Gameweek number 3 for the boys this Sunday as they take on Scotland Boys Club (Navy) down at Glasgow Green. With the boys gelling more & more with each passing week were all excited to see how they get on against a really tough opponent. 🇾🇪

A warm sunny day greeted the Reds this morning as they arrived in Larkhall for their CLYFA A League Challenge Cup against Larkhall Thistle.

After getting their 1st victory of the season last weekend the boys knew that only a win and 3 points were enough to keep the cup hopes alive.

An early goal from Zac S got the team off to the best possible start pouncing on a loose ball inside the box after a strong penalty shout was waved away.

Both teams had several half chances each throughout the 1st half without either keeper really being tested.

A competive debut goal for Jack around the 55th minute made it 2 nil after a good team goal moving the ball well from back to front and a neat finish gave the boys a bit of breathing space. The game pretty much followed the same pattern as the 1st half with both teams looking to keep the ball on the grass as often as possible.

The game was finally settled once and for all in the last minute when Zac S showed what hes all about with a great individual goal holding off 4 challenges from Larkhall as well as showing great footwork to get himself free before firing home an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from just inside the box.

Overall, a hard earned victory against a good side saw us leave with the points we came looking for. 🇾🇪

Another week, another tough CLYFA B League Challenge Cup match for our Whites.

Playing a league up in the cup competition was always going to be a hard ask on the boys and so it has proved. Outwith a 10-15 spell at the end when injuries dealt us another rotten hand forcing personel & formation changes, the boys dug in and worked hard and gave it all they had though also seeing Motherwell running out deserved winners.

Overall we will never be too tough on them for giving it their best shot and we can only hope playing teams of this level sets the boys up for the long C League season ahead when it gets underway. 🇾🇪
