We’ve learnt pretty quickly that £1,000 doesn’t go very far when you’re setting up a new race team!

There’s all the obvious stuff like kit, a gazebo and getting the team car ready. Then you start adding up race entries, accommodation, crossings, fuel, tolls and everything else that comes with taking six riders racing in the UK and Europe.

It soon adds up.

Ultimately though, every bit of support we receive means we can give our riders more opportunities to race, learn and develop.

We’re really fortunate to have some brilliant businesses helping us make it happen.

You’ll see their logos on our kit next year. This is a little bit of what sits behind them.

We’ve partnered with some amazing businesses and brands already and we’re incredibly grateful that they’ve backed the vision for Watts Occurring Racing.

But we’re not quite finished yet.

As we prepare for our first season in 2027, we have opportunities for a small number of additional partners to join us.

We’ll be racing across the UK and Europe, giving six young riders the opportunity to develop, race at a high level and see just how far they can go.

We’re not looking for names to simply fill space on a jersey. We want partners who want to be part of the journey and help us build something special.

A glimpse of what Watts Occurring Racing is all about. ⚡️

Pretty special for the next generation of Welsh riders to spend time with someone who’s raced at the very highest level. 🇬🇧🇫🇷

MEET OUR PARTNERS | TYRE GLIDER 🧡

Next up in our partner series is another Welsh business that backed the idea of Watts Occurring Racing from the start, Tyre Glider.

Most cyclists will have come across Tyre Glider by now. A simple idea, developed here in Wales, that has gone on to become a huge success.

When we first spoke about what we wanted to create with the team, they got it straight away. They believed in the vision and wanted to help us give six young riders some brilliant opportunities in 2027.

They’ve also supported the Llandow Revival Series this year, so their backing of cycling in Wales goes beyond just the team.

We’re delighted to have them with us.

🤝 WELCOME TO THE TEAM — SYNERGY PERFORMANCE

We’re delighted to welcome Synergy Performance as a partner of Watts Occurring Racing for 2027.

Synergy are no strangers to us. They’ve been long-standing supporters of Maindy Flyers and, when we launched the Llandow Revival Series this year, they were one of the first businesses to step forward and back what we were trying to build.

That support now continues with Watts Occurring Racing.

Having partners who genuinely believe in developing young riders and who have supported the journey from Maindy through to our new U19 team means a huge amount.

Cyclists spend a lot of time talking about FTP.

Functional Threshold Power, watts per kilo, training numbers, race results. They all matter — and they matter to us too.

But while we were putting together Watts Occurring Racing and selecting our six riders for 2027, we kept coming back to something else.

What kind of team do we actually want to build?

That’s where our other FTP comes in.

FUN. TEAM. PROFESSIONAL.

FUN
We want our riders to enjoy it. That doesn’t mean taking racing any less seriously. You can race hard, train hard and want to win while still having fun. Bring good energy, enjoy being around your teammates and enjoy getting better.

TEAM
No rider develops on their own. Put the team first, back each other and celebrate each other’s success. Sometimes being a great teammate will mean putting someone else’s result ahead of your own.

PROFESSIONAL
Do the basics well, and keep repeating. Turn up prepared. Be on time. Know the plan. Train, eat, sleep and recover properly. Communicate. Learn from the good races and the bad ones and take responsibility for getting better.

We want to develop really good bike riders. Of course we do.

But we also want to create an environment they enjoy being part of, where they support each other and learn how to do things the right way.

We’ll always care about Functional Threshold Power.

But this FTP matters just as much.

Lots to do when you’re starting a new junior race team for 2027 but it’s great to see the website starting to take shape.

We couldn’t do any of this without some amazing partners who have backed the team and what we’re trying to build. A huge thank you to every one of them. 🙌
