***CANCELLED****

Our give it a go session this afternoon are CANCELLED due to dangerously high river levels.

We are rearranging both today’s slots (and the session from Saturday afternoon) to NEXT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. Hopefully it’s not going to rain solidly for a week so you’ll be able to try it out nice and safely!

We have a river trip and a social this weekend though! Come down to one of them to meet us and get in a boat (sign up for river on the SU website).

See you soon! 😁😁

Due to the very bad weather and rising river levels, I’m sorry to announce that the 3-5pm giag taff session is CANCELLED!

If you’ve signed up to this session, we’ll re-arrange it for a later time.

Stay dry lads 🤌🤌

Right guys, our first giag is tomorrow! So here’s a full list of the info:

What’s gonna be happening:
- arrive at your appointed time at taly boat shed (look at the map I’ll attach soon)
- We’ll give you any kit you need
- Walk down to the river (5 mins) and get on
- Split into groups and learn some kayaking 😁

it’s a good idea to turn up in the clothes you want to wear on the water so you only need to get changed once. These should be:
- Synthetic sporty material stuff such as sport leggings, sporty joggers/ shorts, sporty thermal tops, maybe a fleece, spare shoes you don’t mind getting wet + socks

What else you need:
- some clothes to get changed into afterwards (the looser and warmer the better)
- Towel

It’s looking like it’s gonna be a bit rainy but that’s absolutely fine cause you’re probs gonna get a bit wet anyway. We’ve got a big enclosed space you can get changed in and stay dry, we’ll also provide hot squash and chilli 😁

See you tomorrow!!!! I’m very excited lol 😁😁

Hey guys, it's your new and improved G.I.M.P. (kit sec)

Basically going to inform any new people looking into joining the club ....

For starters all the kayaking gear such as helmets, kags, paddles and of course boats are all provided free of charge by the club (amazing I know right) so don't worry about getting your mits on any of these.

Now on to what you need - for out Give it a GO sessions on the taff you probs should bring some warm clothes as many of you swim in the taff (as all good kayakers should and will do - including myself) or ideally a wetsuit but if you don't have one don't worry yourself as we have many waterproof kags to keep your top half dry !! also you should if you like having dry feet being a spare pair of shoes as one pair will be worn on the river and one on dry land !!

As for the POOL sessions - swim costumes & trunks are all you need as it's in a lavely hot state of the art swimming pool so is much nicer but feel free to bring as many layers as you want (all kit is again provided)

As for trips throughout the year they may be some non kayaking kit that may be advised and I shall enlighten your souls to that when necessary but to keep it short, sweet and simple

RIVER GIAG = WARM CLOTHES THAT AREN'T COTTON / WETSUIT and SPARE SHOES

POOL GIAG = SWIMMING POOL ATTIRE

many thanks the flying fox aka your kit sec

This weekend we had our Ladies and As competing in BUCS 2021
Both teams absolutely smashed it and made it into the semi finals for the first time since 2007 for the As and first time ever for the Ladies!
Unfortunately both teams fought incredibly hard but were just beaten so then moved into the 3rd/4th playoffs.
History was made in these games and both teams walked away with Bronze medals!! 🥉
I just want to say I’m incredibly proud of everyone who competed this weekend for us, gave it their absolute all and it paid off! Thank you all so much and well done once again!
Thank you to for hosting an amazing polo competition!

To everyone who came on/coached on the Freshers Taff Trip,

You were all amazing!

It’s extremely humbling, and downright awesome to see how much progression everyone showed today on the moving water. I saw many nervous faces at the start but you all definitely smashed it today and I feel like a proud mother duck with her little duckling shredders 🐥.

Likewise none of this could have happened without coaches, so I want to give a massive thanks to you all too.

Stay tuned for more trips like this one to come...

Tammy boy out ❤️
