Games of the week preview:
Sunday the 11th of October.

Premier League:
Currock Inn vs Club Britannia
🏟️: Sheepmount

Scheduled Referee: Adam Pattison

Current league position:
Currock Inn: 4th - Club Britannia - 7th
Form:
Currock Inn ❌✅✅
Club Britannia ✅❌❌❌

This week’s game of the week in the premier league is Currock Inn vs Club Britannia. After a loss in the reverse fixture on the opening day, the Currock Inn have gone on to win their last 2 games and sit 4th in the league. Club Britannia have had a tough start results wise after that opening day win so both teams will be after a result for different reasons. Currock to carry on building their momentum & Club Britannia to get their season up and running again.

Currock Inn’s View:

Q: How would you assess your start to the season?
A: We’ve had a decent start to life in the premier league although weve only played 3 games so still early days but to win 2 out of 3 we can't complain.

Q: What are you expecting on Sunday? (From the opposition and your own team)
A: Sundays game against Club Britannia will be tough. We haven't managed to beat them in 3 meetings drawing 1 and losing 2 the latest only being a few week ago, they are a very good side with the likes of Camel, Will morrey, kyle armstrong and Nodge to name a few, so we fully expect another tough game

Q: Our squad preview - Injuries, availability of players etc.
A: We might struggle to fill the bench this week, still got a couple suspended from the reverse fixture against club brit and 3 or 4 lads away with work/holiday. But we've got a good squad and will still have enough to be competitive and hopefully come away with our 1st win against them.

Club Britannia’s View:

Q: How would you assess your start to the season?
A: Results haven’t been as we had hoped, but there’s still lots of football to be played the effort has been there but mistakes have cost us points.

Q: What are you expecting on Sunday? (From the opposition and your own team)
A: We are expecting a fiercely competitive game from a very good team.

Q: Our squad preview - Injuries, availability of players etc.
A: As always we have injury’s & unavailability, so will see who’s available and take it from there.

Division 2:
Carlisle Reivers vs Edentown
🏟️: Sheepmount

Scheduled Referee: Jamie Stuart

Current league position:
Carlisle Reivers - 8th - Edentown - 3rd
Form:
Carlisle Reivers ❌❌
Edentown ❌✅❌✅✅

In Division 2, Carlisle Reivers are on the back of a postponement last week whilst Edentown are after 3 wins in a row. Reivers have had a tough start to the season but have only played 2 games so there’s plenty of time for them to get the results they want and that could start with this Sundays game. Edentown are on the back of 2 wins in a row after an inconsistent start to the season. But after a big defeat on the opening day, they’ve had a real turn around in form and will be looking to carry that on this weekend against Reivers.

Fixtures preview for Sunday the 11th of October:

Premier League:

After a few weeks away, Dalston FC and Scotby face off at thursby. Dalston will look at a 3 week break as a bit of a reset after a disappointing start to the season results wise, although their performance against longtown could’ve earned them atleast a point. Scotby will want to carry on their momentum at the top & anything but a win could give DH a massive boost. After a first first encounter earlier in the season, Currock Inn take on Club Britannia. Currock are on the back of 2 wins whilst Britannia will want to get their season back on track after a loss last weekend. An intriguing game at Caldew this weekend as Dalston Black Reds host Longtown. DBR are unbeaten at home and have had a good start to the season whilst Longtown themselves will be happy with their start and how they have performed so far. And finally in the premier league, it’s Denton Holme vs Goslinh Bridge. Gosling gave potentially their best performance as a club in this fixture last season, coming out on top against the county champions & a repeat will be a massive boost for them in the early stages of this season. DH sitting at the top will know a win is needed to keep them there.

Division 2:

Top of the table, Beehive continue to pick up maximum points this season & are showing no signs of slowing down. They play Wheatsheaf this Sunday who will be a tough test to Beehive’s unbeaten start. A game that could go either way. Carlisle Reivers play Edentown and after Reivers game was postponed last week, they’ll be ready to go this week against Edentown who have built a good start to the season in their first as a club. Clubhouse, whose momentum hit a bit of a speed bump last week in a loss to Newlaithes, play stanwix, who themselves are on the back of a disappointing result last week. Both teams will want to get a result to build their season again. And lastly, Upperby are on the back of a good result away to Wheatsheaf last week in a Sunday league classic and host Reunited this week looking to push on from 4th in the league as it stands.

The results from Sunday the 4th of October.

In the Premier League, a good start to the league campaign for Dalston BR continues as they carry on their very good home form with a win over Club Britannia. 3-2 it ended in favour of black reds as they climb to 3rd.
In the game of the week, Denton Holme complete the double over Longtown, but only just as DH come away with a tight 2-1 win. Longtown pushing the county champions all the way in both league meetings this season. And finally, a good win for the Currock Inn as they keep a clean sheet on the way to a 2-0 win away to Harraby. After a good start to the season, Harraby have back to back defeats but will still be happy with their start to the season.

In Division 2, Edentown come out on top at home to Stanwix. After a heavy defeat on the opening day, Edentown have turned their form around with some good wins in recent weeks to climb the table. A big win for Upperby away to Wheatsheaf who suffer their first defeat of the season. A 4-3 win for Upperby in a classic Sunday league game at Wetheral. And finally, Newlaithes secure a big win away to Clubhouse. Another much needed win for Newlaithes but a massive bump in the road for clubhouse as they’d look to close the gap at the top of the league. Division 2 wide open with teams all taking results from each other in the early stages of the season.

As mentioned in a previous post, Reunited vs Reivers was postponed as Caldew have now made their pitches unavailable for Reunited to use.

Games of the week preview:
Sunday the 4th of October.

Premier League:
Longtown vs Denton Holme
🏟️: Longtown

Scheduled Referee: Craig Bennison

Current league position:
Longtown: 3rd - Denton Holme - 2nd
Form:
Longtown ❌❌✅✅
Denton Holme ✅✅✅

This week’s game of the week in the premier league is a battle towards the top of the league. Denton Holme, predictably, have had a perfect start to the season, winning 3 from 3 to put them level on points with Scotby at the top of the league. One of those wins was against this weeks opponents in Longtown. A 4-3 win that day for DH with Longtown pushing them close and this weekend is set to be even tighter as Longtown have won their last two games meaning they will be full of confidence. A win would put Longtown level on points with DH as the season goes into the autumn.

Longtowns View:

Q’s:
Q: How would you assess your start to the season?
A: Personally I think we’ve had a good start to the season we are sitting third. We’ve played the two best teams in the county and we were no mugs against the county champions and two back to back home wins fills us full of confidence.

Q: What are you expecting on Sunday? (From the opposition and your own team)
A: We expect a tough game of course as th are a real side but they will need to be at there best to take on us as we’re no mugs ourselves and are more then capable ourselves on our day. Always good to play against my good pal holto he’s a good pal of mine a sponsor of our club and manager of the month somehow. Larl mini should have got it…

Q: Our squad preview - Injuries, availability of players etc.
A: My squad has alot of injuries to be fair a few long term a few short term we won’t have a full squad Sunday but with what we’ve got available I’m confident in putting in a good performance the lads have my full trust.

Division 2:
Re United vs Carlisle Reivers
🏟️: Caldew School

Scheduled Referee: U18’s Referee

Current league position:
Re United: 9th - Carlisle Reivers - 8th
Form:
Re United ❌❌❌
Carlisle Reivers ❌❌

In Division 2, it’s a big game at the bottom of the league as bottom side, Reunited host Carlisle Reivers. A loss for either side will be a massive blow to any hopes of climbing the table for the remainder of the season whereas a win for either side will be a massive boost in the early stages of the season. Both sides will be more than determined to get their first win of the season in a competitive second division.

Fixtures preview for this Sunday, the 4th of October:

Premier League:

3 fixtures this weekend to look forward to with one potentially having a big impact at the top of the league. Dalston Black Reds continue to play a stretch of games at home on Caldew to Club Britannia who won comfortably in county cup action against Upperby of the 2nd Division last weekend. Harraby are back at home on Keenan park looking to get back to winning ways after a first defeat of the season against Longtown last weekend. They take on The Currock Inn who have only had the two fixtures so far this seasons which have resulted in a win and a loss.
And Longtown host Denton Holme. The two have already come up against each other in the league this season and DH just about got the job done, coming out on top with a 4-3 win. Longtown have picked up back to back wins since then so will go into the weekend at home full of confidence.

Division 2:

Clubhouse at at home to Newlaithes after both played the reverse fixture just last weekend. Clubhouse came out on top of that fixture in a 7-3 victory so will want another 3 points to keep them challenging at the top whilst Newlaithes will want a bit of revenge after last weekend. Edentown host Stanwix with the new boys sitting 4th in the league and 2 places above Stanwix. A win for Stanwix could take them above Edentown if results go their way. Wheatsheaf take on Upperby with both teams having just played the 2 games so far this season and with both undefeated, a win for either side would be massive this early on in the season. And finally, something has to give as the bottom 2 play each other as Reunited play Reivers. Both teams will desperately want a win from this one with both clubs wanting to claim the table.

Manager of the month awards:

2 bits of recognition as the public vote for September is taken by Holty at Denton Holme after 3 wins out of 3 in the premier league so far this season.

Bri of the Beehive takes the managers vote (as voted for in the managers group) after 4 wins from 4 in September including a convincing looking win against Stanwix at the weekend just gone.

Manager of the month:

It takes a dedicated & special breed of person to take charge of a Sunday league club and it’s no different here in Carlisle. Alongside family life, work life & a social life, there’s stacks to do on a weekly basis, so for once…they deserve a bit of credit.

Introducing, ‘Manager of the Month’, where our followers can vote for which manager (of a nominated 4 combined across both divisions will take the accolade at the end of each month).

The poll will follow in a seperate post as Facebook only allows limited characters…

September nominations:

When the fixtures come out in August, all teams picture a good start & it’s all about getting points on the board early. The following 4 have all done that with maximum points from all their games so far which gets them this months nomination.

Matty Hand (Scotby FC - Premier League):
3 wins from 3, 19 goals scored and just 3 conceded sees a goal difference of + 16 which gives Scotby the early advantage as they sit top of the pile in the premier league going into October. A predictably tight defence staying solid so far this season. A big win vs Club Britannia was probably the highlight.

Kyle Holt (Denton Holme - Premier League):
Just behind Scotby, in 2nd is Denton Holme. 17 scored and 6 conceded, it’s a good start for DH as they look to keep the pressure on Scotby even this early on. They were tested against Longtown in a tight game but held firm, showing they can scrap on when they’re not tearing teams apart.

Bri Ferguson (Beehive - Division 2):
Whilst other teams were talked about in the summer as favourites for the title amidst a lively showing on social media, Beehive kept their head down & came into the season confidently and it’s shown as they’ve gone on to a near perfect start to the season. 4 wins from 4, 38 scored and just 1 conceded (a harsh way to take away perfection) sees beehive claim top spot with a 5 point gap at the end of the month.

Jakey Blain (Wheatsheaf - Division 2): CCSL stalwarts, Wheatsheaf probably go under the radar a bit in the leagues as they crack on and get results & always seem to have a steady season. This could be the year they compete at the top with 2 wins from 2 league games so far saying that that could be the case. The Wetheral lads will be more than happy with their start going into October.

Voting (on the next post up ⬆️) closes Wednesday the 30th of September.
