FULL TIME: EDENTOWN FC 3-2 STANWIX FC
What a performance from the lads today and a massive result at home.
We knew before kick-off that this was an important game and that we needed the three points. We didn’t start as well as we know we can, and the first half was a bit sloppy at times. Stanwix took advantage and went into the lead.
Early in the second half they managed to grab a second, leaving us 2-0 down and with a mountain to climb.
That’s when the lads showed exactly what this team is about.
Nobody gave up, nobody let their heads drop and everyone kept working for each other. We made a few changes, brought on some fresh legs and changed the approach to become more attacking.
From that point on, the lads were excellent.
Reece got us back into the game with the first goal and gave everyone the belief that the comeback was on.
Then Will stepped up and scored his first goal for the club to make it 2-2. A brilliant moment for him and fully deserved.
With the momentum completely with us, Owen then produced the moment of the match. He picked the ball up just inside the Stanwix half, spotted the keeper off his line and went for it, sending the ball over him and into the net to complete an unbelievable turnaround.
From 2-0 down to 3-2 winners.
The lads deserve massive credit today. The character, effort, belief and togetherness they showed to fight their way back into the game was outstanding.
Every player played their part, whether starting the game or coming on from the bench. The changes made a real difference and the lads kept pushing right until the final whistle.
Man of the Match: Kaz ⭐
Another outstanding performance from Kaz. He covered every blade of grass, worked tirelessly for the team and gave absolutely everything from the first whistle to the last. His energy, determination and work rate were brilliant once again.
A huge win, our first home victory of the season, and most importantly another three points on the board.
Plenty to be proud of today. This is the kind of fight and togetherness we need to keep building on.
