Nowadays, yoga is becoming more and more focused on the physical practice. But what about everything beyond the physical postures? What about the spiritual and philosophical roots of yoga?
Over the next few months, I would love for us to explore, in depth, the Eight Limbs of Yoga 🧘♀️ — not just learning about them, but exploring how we can apply them both on our yoga mat and in our everyday lives.
The Eight Limbs of Yoga are:
🌿 1. Yama — Ethical principles and how we relate to others
🌿 2. Niyama — Personal observances and how we relate to ourselves
🧘♀️ 3. Asana — Physical postures
🌬️ 4. Pranayama — Breath and the regulation of vital energy
🌙 5. Pratyahara — Withdrawal of the senses
🎯 6. Dharana — Concentration
🧘 7. Dhyana — Meditation
✨ 8. Samadhi — Absorption, deep meditation, and a state of unity
This is an invitation to go beyond simply doing yoga and begin to live yoga.
Over the next few months, we’ll explore each limb, understand its deeper meaning, and most importantly, look at how we can bring these ancient teachings into our modern lives.
