A nice short film taken at the the final round of the series. Really captures the atmosphere and vibe of what we try to provide - grassroots racing for all.

VOLUNTEER MARSHALS

We’re onto the last event of the series today 😩😢 so a final call for a couple of people to volunteer to marshal tonight 🙏 we have a few already but ideally require a couple more. Let us know if you can help below or DM. Thank you!

With no racing this week 🙄😩 we thought we'd pop-up the latest Top 20 GC for each category.

The last round of the series is on 30th July and there's lots still to go for. So get your entries in for one final whizz around the Combe! 🤩🙌🏁

We wanted to provide an update following last night's racing.

Firstly, as far as we're aware, all of the riders involved in the serious 3rd/4th Category bunch sprint crash are doing okay. We understand there is one broken collarbone, with several other riders suffering cuts, bruises and abrasions. We wish everyone involved a full and speedy recovery.

The incident is also a timely reminder that bunch sprints carry significant risk. Riders should only commit to a sprint finish if they genuinely feel they have the legs, confidence and experience to contest a top placing safely. If you're not in a position to challenge for the front, it's often better to roll in safely and race again another week.

We'd also like to thank everyone in the Elite/1st/2nd race for your patience and understanding after we were forced to declare the race null and void while our medical team and volunteers dealt with the earlier incident. This was far from the outcome anyone wanted, but rider safety will always be our first priority.

We really appreciated the constructive feedback and understanding shown while discussions took place. After around an hour, an agreement was reached to recognise the top ten placings based on the order riders crossed the line on the previous lap, with Will Bjergfelt taking a thoroughly deserved victory.

As many of you know, we're all ex-bike riders ourselves and volunteer our time because we're passionate about providing safe, well-organised and enjoyable grassroots racing. We understand some riders may be disappointed by how the evening ended, but we hope you also appreciate the difficult decisions that sometimes have to be made when rider welfare is involved.

Thank you to everyone who raced, volunteered, officiated and supported the event. We'll be back next week to do it all again, and we hope to see you there.

Finally, our thoughts are with those injured in the crash. We wish you all a swift and complete recovery, and we look forward to seeing you back on the start line when you're ready.

***CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS***

Summer Series / Round 8 / 09.07.26

In order to conform with the new, revised British Cycling Risk Assessment and ensure the correct level of insurance cover is in place WE REQUIRE 3 MARSHALS around the circuit at pre-determined points to ensure there is sight of riders at all points on the circuit during the race (radios will be provided).

Please drop a message in the comments below or DM us

Unfortunately no marshals, no races. So riders please ask your supporters to give up the odd evening to help.

Many thanks 🙌

As we move onto Round 5 of our Summer Series this week. We thought it would be good to highlight some of the great photographers we have around the series documenting and capturing the images of the races.

📸 These great images were taken by Matt de-Beger and you can check his site out at www.mattdeb.photography

📸 Another regular at the circuit is Rhi and you can view her images on Instagram

Don't forget to get your entries in for this weeks event - see you Thursday!

***CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS***

Summer Series / Round 2 / 21.05.26

In order to conform with the new, revised British Cycling Risk Assessment and ensure the correct level of insurance cover is in place we need to place 3 marshals around the circuit at pre-determined points to ensure there is sight of riders at all points on the circuit during the race (radios will be provided). We could also do with one volunteer to help with the signing-on too!

This requirement was announced at the start of round one by Andy Cook and a number of volunteers offered for future rounds.

Unfortunately no marshals, no races. So riders please ask your supporters to give up the odd evening to help. With enough volunteers we should be able to share the workload evenly.

Email [email protected] or report to Andy, Sue or Diane on the night - many thanks!

With no racing this week we thought we'd highlight a couple of points aimed at new riders and youth riders.

***Riders entering on a day licence***
Castle Combe Summer Series will cover the cost of a day-licence for 2 races to encourage anyone who wishes to come and try racing.
(*BC rules dictate riders need a separate day licence for each race)

***Youth Riders***
If a youth rider wishes to compete in a second race** (assuming they have BC dispensation to ride up), you can E.O.L for the second race at the cost of just £5.00
(**if they are ‘riding up’ with dispensation and only entering the one race, the standard entry fee applies)

Hope that helps and see you next week on the 21st May.

Well that was a great start to the series! The weather held and we had encouraging numbers across the events. On top of that good friendly vibes and great racing.

Full results will be up on the BC site shortly.
