Calamity Sal attempts Eventing

Well it’s been a quiet few weeks 😴💤

After 2 weeks away on holiday I was ready to get going again with W***y, except he had other ideas and had an extra week off as he came in from the field a bit lame 🤦🏼‍♀️

Luckily it was relatively superficial and as he’d been ridden a couple of times whilst I was away and he felt good again by Thursday when we had a jump lesson, I thought let’s just have a nice day and no pressure!

We rode for Shillingstone riding club as an individual which was fun and we didn’t do too badly considering the lack of prep 🙈 32 dressage, skimmed a pole in the sj and flew round the xc clear!

Our team manager took some lovely photos too which I’ll share tomorrow 🤩

After a fantastic dressage outing, I didn’t expect to take another rosette home at our event, but as ever, W***y proved me wrong and produced a lovely test again (especially considering first time on grass for about a year!) - scoring 29.8 👏🏻

He then went on to deliver a double clear insider the time 🥳🎉 not batting an eyelid at the fake trakhener! (As you can hear, I was over the moon 🙈)

We finished 4th and I am so proud of him 😍 lovely to have all the support from my yard buddies too x

Very lucky to be having jump lessons with Ben Liles and yesterday we went up the road to Stour for W***y’s first xc on grass in almost a year!

Lots to work on (with my core, soft hands, shorter reins, upper body etc etc 😂), but W***y was brilliant and jumped everything with only a green moment at our usual trakhener nemesis!

Looking forward to our first event of 2026 at next week 🥳

Had a lovely weekend with W***y- best flat work we’ve had for a looong time! And then braved it over the ford this afternoon too 👏🏻

Enjoyed seeing the BE competition at our yard too - all has made me excited at the prospect of our first event in a year in just 2 weeks time!!
