I may be a bit biased here but what a fab club we have down here at Gotherington , as demonstrated by last months club tournament. Great fun, great food , great company oh and some pretty good tennis too!!! The late evenings have arrived and that means a new tennis season starts tonight at Gotherington Tennis Club! With twice weekly club nights, free coaching, multiple social events and competitive team events, we really do offer something for everyone irrespective of standard. Whatever floats your boat! A huge thank you to everyone who braved the elements last night for our 55th AGM. We had a great turnout and as a result it was a very informative and positive evening. We welcomed Sarah Jackson on to the committee and we had 2 very deserving winners of our club awards:

John Woolley Trophy (player of the year) - Bev Thomas
Pat Gregory Trophy (Clubperson of the year) - Sue Odam

A quick reminder that the Club’s AGM - its most important administrative meeting of the year - is going to be held on Monday 19th January at The John Woolley Pavilion. The meeting commences at 19.30 (drinks and nibbles provided ) and is likely to be concluded by 21.00. We would encourage everyone to come along to show their support and also have their say in the direction of the club going forward.

With the season coming to a close , can I give a huge shout out to all our amazing volunteers, who give up their time freely to aid the smooth running of the club. All our village clubs. whether it be tennis, cricket, football, petanque, brownies, wine... (the list goes on), rely on unsung and sometimes unseen volunteers to ensure our village continues to punch above its weight. We are very lucky the tennis club have such a great bunch of people helping out so thank you all and here's to an even more successful 2026!

As the dark nights start to close in, its time to reflect on another successful season for the club. On the league front, while the men held their own in a higher division, its huge congratulations to our Lady's team who secured promotion with an exciting 4-0 victory in the very last match of the season ! Well done all , with a special mention for Bev Thomas (second from the right) who went through the whole season undefeated with a perfect 14-0 record. Amazing!

It's that time of year again when Gotherington Tennis Club invites you all to join us for our our BIG TENNIS WEEKEND.
We are offering FREE sessions throughout the morning to get a taste for tennis, to have fun, keep fit and enjoy a social day! Families, children, adults of all ages and abilities will be very welcome. (Some rackets will be available to borrow but feel free to bring your own if possible).
