WHAT DO MY CLASS NAMES ACTUALLY MEAN?
Gentle Pilates 👇
A friendly, supportive class for anyone who wants to keep moving without feeling pressured or intimidated. It is especially popular with beginners, retired people and those managing osteoporosis, arthritis or joint issues.
We work on mobility, strength, balance and feeling more comfortable in your body, using a variety of small equipment. The class also offers consistency and a lovely sense of community—you won’t be walking into a room full of strangers every week.
Gentle doesn’t mean ineffective. My members certainly notice the difference when they stop!
Mixed Ability Pilates 👇
A varied class for people with different levels of Pilates experience and physical ability. You can be completely new to Pilates but still be fit and physically capable—or more experienced and ready for an extra challenge.
I include stronger and more challenging exercises, while always offering modifications and alternatives. We use different equipment and work on strength, mobility, control and balance, so everyone can exercise at an appropriate level.
These classes have a wonderfully sociable feel too, with many friendships—and even movement-holiday buddies—formed along the way!
Pilates with Weights 👇
Pilates with an added body-conditioning dimension!
We combine Pilates-based movement with additional resistance to challenge the muscles a little more and help build strength. The weights add variety and bring a different feel to familiar exercises, while still maintaining control, alignment and good technique.
The class is suitable for a range of abilities, with different options offered where needed.
Chairobics 👇
A lively, upbeat class set to music from the 60s, 70s and beyond. It isn’t a Pilates class, although you may recognise a few Pilates-inspired movements!
We use equipment including light weights, soft balls and magic circles to work on strength, mobility, coordination and balance. Short combinations are gradually built up and repeated, sometimes with a few changes thrown in to challenge both the body and the brain.
It’s purposeful exercise, brain training and plenty of fun—all wrapped up in a friendly, community-based class.
