There was no football school this weekend because coach Ben was climbing Pen Y Fan with some of the Chepstow Town AFC Girls under 12 players and parents, raising money for Child Bereavement UK.

Following that, the girls had their end of season party at Chepstow Town Football Club AFC to celebrate an incredible season winning Gwent County Girls League division two.

Today, the girls, coaches, and parents are walking to Tintern and back from Chepstow for the final leg of their fundraising exploits.

There is still time to donate, which can be done here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rachel-chamberlain-2?fbclid=Iwb21leASRDeFjbGNrBJEN3WV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHr5TTTy2ornHnzWHUSqOpTZwWCgF7OqINQxTbc8tT6MI2LHz-s4R9tHd0nKG_aem_lXb7Q8aQ8y2iwZlF5ZGCvw

We ran 1v1 gauntlet battles in Saturday's session.

In this video we see some great defending by Joss, winning the ball from the first attacker and scoring, before recovering to defend the second attacker and also winning the ball.

It was a great effort from all the girls, some of the skills on display were top class!

Happy bank holiday everyone!

Massive congratulations to coach Ben Miller on his birthday - today he's completed his latest course and is a Certified Women's Coaching Specialist!

The certification will enable him to offer improved support to girls and women in football and through other forms of coaching.

Lots of girls were away for the bank holiday weekend, so we had some fun in yesterday's session.

This is a competitive but easy drill where each girl has a "base" and they must run to get a ball from the middle and dribble it back.

They can then get another ball from the middle, or steal a ball from someone else's base.

It's timed and it can be done with four - ten players. The girl with the most balls in her base at the end is the winner.

It's a drill that doesn't just work on turns and dribbling, but also awareness, because they have to look to see who has the most balls so they know where to steal from to put them in the best position to win.

The girls loved it, they ran their socks off in the heat!

Not sorry for the Arsenal love on a beautiful morning for girls football!

Continuing the theme of 1v1's at yesterday's session, here's Jocelyn v Carys in another great battle.

Carys has to defend the larger goal and if she wins the ball she needs to score in one of two smaller goals.

It was a great and tiring exchange, both girls put loads of effort into it 💪

Today's focus was about scoring goals. We got some videos of the 1v1 gauntlets.

Here's Ava attacking against Evelyn. Great feet from Ava to hold the ball up and keep possession, and great effort from Evelyn to defend the goal.

These 1v1's are hard, because one defender has to face a gauntlet of attacker's one after the other with no break. It takes a lot of effort and concentration. Both girls did amazing in this one.

I'm raising money for a good cause!

50% of money raised will go to the charity Child Bereavement UK .

50% will go towards getting new kit and equipment for Chepstow Town AFC Girls under 12 (soon to be under 13's).

We're not expecting something for nothing, though. On Saturday 6th June the girls parents are going to walk up Pen Y Fan. And on Sunday 7th June the team and parents are going to walk to Tintern and back.

Child Bereavement UK is a charity close to the hearts of the team, we want to be able to raise as much money as possible for it. Please donate and share and spread the word!

Another Chepstow Town girls team winning the league, this time the under 13's!

Massive congratulations to the girls, a lot of whom started their football journeys with this team all the way back at under 10. Great to see some OG's in this team, they've come so far and deserve their league victory!
