Watching my clients age, I see that the body responds far better to steady care…rather than frantic “last-minute” attempts at repair.

My free weekly newsletter explores many topics, among them how practicing Pilates helps us move well, in the studio and through everyday life.

Hello everyone 👋 I have a few new followers so I thought I’d introduce myself…

I’ve been teaching Pilates for the last 4 years and absolutely love it.
Why? Seeing people get stronger, happier and living fuller lives makes me feel so happy — it really is that simple.

I enjoy good food and travelling when I can ✈️
I love attending classes myself to learn from other teachers
And I’ve been told I have a bit of a wicked sense of humour 😄
If you’re intrigued or thinking about trying a class, I’m currently offering free Pilates trials so you can come and see what they’re all about.

Just PM me for details and I’ll send everything you need to know.

WHEN DID YOU REALISE YOU WEREN’T AS STRONG AS YOU USED TO BE?

Maybe it was carrying the shopping in from the car.

You used to grab several bags at once without thinking about it… and now you find yourself putting them down halfway to the kitchen or making three trips instead of one.

For me, it was when I realised I could no longer easily pick up my daughter.

She was getting bigger, of course 😂, but it made me realise that I needed to do something about my own strength too.

Because getting stronger it’s about real life.

🛍️ Carrying the shopping
🧺 Lifting a full laundry basket
📦 Moving things around the house
🧳 Picking up a suitcase
🌿 Doing the gardening
👧 And yes… occasionally picking up a child who is probably far too big to be picked up!

These are the things I want my body to be able to keep doing.

And that’s one of the reasons I love Pilates.

It helps us build strength, stability and control so that everyday life can feel that little bit easier.

If you’ve reached the point where you’ve thought, “I really need to get stronger,” maybe this is your sign to start.

I currently offer a FREE Beginners Pilates Taster:

📍 TOLWORTH
Mondays | 9.40–10.35am
Sunray Community Centre

📍 SURBITON
Tuesdays | 9.45–10.45am
St Mark’s Church

Complete beginners are very welcome. You don’t need to be strong before you start — that’s rather the point. 🌿

Message me if you’d like to come along.

I WAS BEING NOSY TODAY… 😂

I was waiting for my class to start and couldn’t help overhearing two men talking about Pilates.

One of them was desperately trying to convince the other one to come to a class.

“You should try it.”
“oh right maybe..'
“It’s really good for you.”
“Yes i know but where would i find the time.'
“You’d actually really benefit from it.”
Still no. 😂

It was honestly so funny. It went on and on.

He was what I call a Pilates non-believer.

You could probably tell him 50 times how good it could be for him and he STILL wouldn’t go.

Or maybe admitting his friend was right would mean he’d actually have to do something about it… 😂

Either way, the first guy WAS right!

So, for any other Pilates non-believers out there, here are just some of the reasons people do Pilates:

• Builds strength for everyday life
• Improves mobility and flexibility
• Builds core strength and stability
• Improves balance and control
• Helps you become more aware of how your body moves
• Can help you feel less stiff and move more comfortably
• Helps you stay strong and active as you get older

And no, you don’t have to be flexible to start!

“I’M WAY TOO YOUNG TO FEEL THIS OLD.”

Does this resonate with you?

Maybe you’ve started noticing you’re a little stiffer than you used to be.

Getting up from the floor takes a bit more effort.

You don’t feel quite as strong as you once did.

Or perhaps your body just doesn’t seem to move quite as easily as it used to.

Pilates can help you build a stronger, more mobile body so you can keep doing the things you enjoy — walking, gardening, travelling, playing with the kids or grandchildren, or simply feeling more confident in everyday life.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF REASONS NOT TO START PILATES… 😂

1. You quite enjoy popping the odd painkiller and rubbing gel into your aching back. It’s basically become part of the daily routine anyway. 😬
2.You’ve accepted that feeling stiff and achy is just part of getting older. Nothing you can do about that… right?
3.You’re definitely too unfit to start Pilates. Better wait until you’re fitter before starting the thing that’s supposed to help you get fitter. 😉

OR…

You could decide you don’t actually want to feel like this.

Pilates can help you:

💪 Build strength for everyday life
🌿 Improve mobility and reduce stiffness
🙌 Make movements like getting up from the floor feel easier
❤️ Build core strength and stability
😊 Feel more confident in your body

And you don’t need to be fit, strong or flexible before you start.

That’s rather the point!

**A little bit about me… 👋**

Here's me in my wooly hat... hehe! Preparing for winter although I actually cannot stand it and I love the summer!

I'm Helen — Pilates teacher, mum of two and someone who increasingly makes a noise when getting up off the floor. 😂

Like lots of mums, I've spent years carrying children, bags, washing baskets and approximately 400 things nobody else seems capable of carrying!

It's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about **feeling strong as we get older**. Not to look a certain way, but to keep doing all the things we want to do without feeling like bits of our body are starting to drop off. 😂

I especially love teaching beginners and people returning to exercise. My classes are friendly, relaxed and definitely **not about being the bendiest person in the room**.

Just good Pilates, good form and getting stronger.

That's me! 💛
