⚽️ CHILTON JUNIORS U9s – MATCH REPORT ⚽️
Today saw our Chilton U9s play their first game of the season and their first official game at Under 9s level.
After finishing runners-up in Division 3 of the Spring Cup last season and earning promotion into Division 2, which is classed as a high-level division, we knew this season was going to be difficult, tough and physical.
Today’s opponents, Sunderland West End, are no strangers to us. We played them last season in what was an extremely even game, finishing in a 2–2 draw, so we knew we were in for another tough test.
The game kicked off with both teams evenly matched during the opening five minutes. The breakthrough came when Chilton were awarded a penalty after a rash challenge inside the box. Finlee stepped up and made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball home to give Chilton the lead.
The game then became a lot more physical, with plenty of fouls coming Chilton’s way. Despite that, the lads continued to look the more threatening side and eventually found themselves two goals to the good. After a mix-up in the West End defence, Teddy pounced and showed great composure to finish past the keeper.
West End managed to pull one back with some good play, but Chilton looked organised and disciplined, making it difficult for the visitors to get into any real rhythm.
Chilton were then awarded a second penalty, and once again Finlee made absolutely no mistake, restoring the two-goal cushion.
As the game entered its final stages, the lads showed great game management, kept possession and controlled the game brilliantly. Finlee then capped off a fantastic performance by holding off two players before finishing underneath the keeper to complete his hat-trick.

Considering we’ve had a mixed pre-season with players being away, today was a really encouraging performance. The lads looked organised, worked hard for each other and showed great character against a physical West End side.
Plenty to build on, but what a way to start life as Chilton U9s! 💙⚽️
