Stunning is the word to describe todays route. It was a tough climb to La Jontion where you can get up close to where a glacier splits into two valleys. It’s an epic route and a Chamonix must do.

Summer has taken a little longer to arrive here in Chamonix, today however, it arrived in style. Today was a lovely trip along the Grand Balcon Sud to the Lac Blanc from the Col des Montets. Still a fair bit of snow on the ground above 2000 meters.

Starting the week with a quick spin on the bike. The bike and I are still working over some differences but we’re getting there. The weather was lovely and sunny when I started but somehow clouded over for remainder of the ride only to become sunny again when I finished. That’s typical.

Back to the long runs again. Today was a nice easy 10mile jolly round the woods and hills near where I live. It was great to get back out on local trails again and it was made even better with the lovely weather. Thankfully todays run was without any dog related issues.

Took the opportunity to enjoy the lovely late spring sunshine and dust off the bike and try and see if we could be friends again. Took it easy on a quick spin around the local lanes. Think I might have spent more time taking photos to remind myself of the occasion rather than actually cycling.

The legs are almost back to normal after UTS and training starts for the next target later on the year. Looking back at the race and although I did exceed what my goals where in the race in finishing time, position and the climbing it has shown that there is still much work on my nutrition and hydration that needs to be done. At least I have the summer to work on that.
