imagine seeing lifting as a type of self love, instead of a type of punishment

Consider how much more attractive that is

And how much more likely you are to stick with it

Bc that’s the ultimate goal:

Consistency

Lifting for longevity means lifting for the long term

And I totally understand the gym can feel boring, repetitive and uninspiring

(My mum is not a fan and has told me multiple times🤣)

So I’m empowering you to make a choice to enjoy it

Figure out how to make it a joyful part of your day

Something you GET to do multiple times a week

If you enjoy it, you can stay consistent when motivation dies and that’s when you’ll see the progress!!!

the magic of the 2 minute rule is that if after those 2 minutes or that first step, if you still want to give up, then you’re allowed to and you have full autonomy to do so!!

that’s why it works.

you trust yourself when you promise to try the next step and give yourself grace if that’s as far as you get.

most of the time, i’m happy to continue bc once I get started, the reality is rarely as bad as my imagination pretends it to be!!

I need you to ask yourself why you’re not weight training?

Not in a judgemental way, in a curious way. Gather some data.

What’s the biggest barrier holding you back?

Cause if you don’t know the ‘why’ the next step feels SO big, then how do you expect yourself to tackle it?

Okay, maybe daily steps aren’t completely useless… but for longevity? they’re not great

Walking is great for your heart, mood, blood sugar, joints and general health. So no, I’m not saying stop walking.

But if your goal is to protect your bone density, especially as a woman heading into your 40s, 50s and beyond, walking alone probably isn’t enough.

Bones need load. They respond best to progressive resistance training, impact where appropriate, and exercises that make your muscles pull against your bones.

And this matters because after menopause, lower oestrogen can speed up bone loss, increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

So keep your walks. They count.

But don’t let steps be the only thing you do for your health.

Lift weights. Get strong. Give your bones a reason to stay strong.
