💜 Proud Sports — a Recognised Project at the London Dangoor Awards 2026

Some moments are special not because you win something, but because you realise that the work you have been quietly doing has been seen.

We’re incredibly proud that Proud Sports has been recognised as a Recognised Project at the London Dangoor Awards 2026, alongside community projects from across London.

Seeing Proud Sports listed on that page — among organisations doing meaningful work in their own communities — was a very special moment for us.

We’re not a huge organisation.

We don’t have a big team or a big marketing budget.

We are a community-led organisation built around a simple idea:

Everyone deserves somewhere they can belong.

A place where you don’t have to explain yourself.
A place where you don’t have to fit a label.
A place where you can simply show up.

Sometimes that means badminton, tennis, table tennis or pickleball.

Sometimes it means hiking.

Sometimes it means sitting quietly together with a book.

And sometimes, it simply means knowing that someone will say hello when you walk through the door.

Because community is about much more than activities.

It is about connection, dignity, friendship and belonging.

Since 2023, we’ve tried to build Proud Sports by community, for community — one session, one conversation and one person at a time.

No Labels Attached.
Move people. Change lives.

This recognition is not just about Proud Sports.

It belongs to every volunteer, member, community partner and every person who has ever walked through our doors. 💜

Thank you to the London Dangoor Awards for recognising the work happening within London’s communities.

And thank you to our community for continuing to believe in what we are building together.

This is only another chapter. 📖💜

What happens when Ernő Goldfinger’s Brutalist London meets Sicily? 🇬🇧🇮🇹

I came to see Trellick Tower — and unexpectedly discovered a little piece of Palermo underneath it.

Standing on Golborne Road, Trellick Tower is impossible to miss. Designed by Hungarian-born architect Ernő Goldfinger and built between 1968 and 1972, its bold concrete structure has become one of London’s most recognisable examples of Brutalist architecture. Today, it is Grade II* listed.

But underneath all that concrete is something completely different.

Panella.

A Sicilian café and restaurant created by Giuseppe and Caterina Di Matteo, bringing a little taste of Palermo to North Kensington.

And somehow, the contrast makes perfect sense.

Above: concrete, geometry and Brutalism.
Below: Sicily, coffee, food and hospitality.

There’s something special about discovering places like this in London.

You come for the architecture.

You stay for the food.

And somewhere between Goldfinger’s concrete tower and a taste of Palermo, you realise that London is really a collection of different worlds sitting side by side.

I was lucky enough to play with some really good players across badminton, table tennis and Pickleball today. Really enjoyed all three games — definitely had a lot of fun and plenty to learn!
