Grimsby Borough Warriors vs Laceby – League Opener ⚽️

After a brilliant summer packed full of tournaments, it was finally back to business today as the Warriors played their first league game of the season! ⚽️🔥

A superb performance from all the boys today, showing that the hard work, effort and lessons from the summer have really been taken on board.

Oscar 🧤 – Solid display as always from our goalkeeper. Made some fine saves to keep Laceby out and distributed the ball really well, constantly looking to find his teammates. Always making himself an option.

Jack 🛡️ – Brilliant performance from our Maldini! Great use of the ball and put in some vital challenges to stop Laceby from building their attacks. Another composed display.

Jasper 💪🏻 – Overheard a Laceby player say “we can’t get past him” — and that pretty much summed up his performance! Didn’t lose a duel all day and supported the team brilliantly with some excellent passing.

Jake ⚽️ – Involved in one of the best-worked team goals of the game and capped off his performance with a decent left-footed strike inside the box to put the game beyond doubt. 👌🏻

Jude 🎯 – Two assists for our midfield maestro today. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself, but he absolutely bossed the middle of the park and helped control the game from start to finish.

Noah ⚽️⚽️ – Two fantastic goals today. One coming from a corner with a tidy finish following some really good movement. Always looking dangerous and another great contribution.

Oscar D ⭐️ (Coaches’ Player of the Day) – What a way to cap off his birthday week! 🎂 Two brilliantly taken goals, with the second finish in particular being 👌🏻. But it wasn’t just the goals — Oscar D also grabbed a hat-trick of assists to help his teammates get on the scoresheet. The ball through to George for his goal was superb. Brilliant performance, Oscar D! 👏🏻

George ⚽️⚽️ (Laceby Coaches’ Player of the Match) – New boots for a new season and what a way to start! 👌🏻 Excellent all over the pitch and really bossed the game with his communication and constant encouragement to his teammates. Also produced an excellent free kick. 💪🏻 A fantastic performance recognised by the opposition as their Player of the Match.

A huge well done to all the boys today. The work and effort they’ve put in over the summer was there for everyone to see, and performances like this show that The Warriors Way is really starting to take shape. ⚽️🔥

🏆 GRIMSBY BOROUGH PLAY ON THE PITCH 2026 CHAMPIONS! 🏆
After a late change of venue from Barton to the home of Grimsby Borough, the Warriors took on the challenge of trying to retain our trophy against some very strong opposition.
And what a day it turned out to be! 💙⚽️
Warriors 0–0 County Borough
First up was County Borough, and it was an evenly contested game from start to finish. Both sides defended well, chances were few and far between, and neither team could find the breakthrough.
A solid start to the tournament and a 0–0 draw.
Warriors 1–0 Kirmington Girls U11
Next up was Kirmington Girls U11, who proved extremely difficult to break down. Their goalkeeper produced some fine saves to keep us at bay, but eventually some excellent build-up play created the opening we needed.
Noah kept his cool and produced a calm, composed finish to give us the lead. We had a few late chances to extend it.
It was the goal that wasn’t in this game that got everyone talking! An absolutely brilliant move starting from the back and finished off by Oscar Dellow, who showed all day what a menace he is, with a fine finish!
But it wasn’t to be... no goal apparently! And with no Stockley Park VAR available, it remained 1–0. 😂

Warriors 1–1 Louth
Our third game saw us come up against a very good Louth side who like to play football the right way.
We couldn't have asked for a better start, with Freddie producing a quality finish after just 30 seconds to put us ahead.
From there, we dominated large parts of the game and spent the majority of it in Louth's half. Unfortunately, a couple of seconds of lost concentration allowed Louth back into the game.
Despite continuing to push for the winner, it finished 1–1.

Warriors 1–1 Discoveries
Next up was Discoveries, and the game followed a similar pattern.
We took an early lead through Noah, who produced a clever finish, and we continued to ask plenty of questions going forward.
Unfortunately, after a scramble inside the box, their striker reacted quickest to level things up.
Another game where we felt we could have taken more, but it finished 1–1.

Warriors 3–1 Phantoms
Going into our final group game, the equation was simple — only a win would guarantee our place in the next round.
Standing in our way was a strong Phantoms side who hadn't conceded a single goal all tournament.
We decided to mix things up a little, putting George up top and Freddie on the left, and the lads certainly didn't let us down!
Freddie was relentless down the wing, getting himself on the scoresheet and setting up another, while George caused problems throughout and got himself amongst the goals too.
Phantoms pulled one back with an absolute worldie of a free-kick, but the Warriors saw the game out brilliantly to secure a fantastic 3–1 victory.
A huge team performance when it mattered most. 💪
The victory meant the Warriors finished TOP OF THE GROUP and booked our place in the final! 🔝🔥

Warriors 0–0 County Borough
Warriors win on penalties! 🧤⚽️
And who should be waiting for us in the final? Our opponents from the very first game of the day — County Borough.
Just like the opening game, it was incredibly evenly contested. Chances were at a premium, both teams battled for everything, and neither side could find a breakthrough.
Full-time: 0–0.
So it was down to the dreaded...
PENALTY SHOOTOUT! 😬⚽️
We converted our first two penalties before missing our third.
That meant County Borough had the chance to win it.
We needed a miss or a save.
Oscar Monro... over to you. 🧤

Every single player was fantastic from start to finish today and thoroughly deserved the victory. The effort, attitude, teamwork and determination shown throughout the tournament were first class.
⭐ Special Mention — Oscar Monro
A special mention has to go to Oscar Monro, who was fantastic from the first game to the last.
Two huge saves in the penalty shootout, including the match-winning stop, as well as confidently putting away his own penalty.
To top off an incredible day, Oscar was also named Tournament Player of the Day! 👏🏆
👏 Coaches' Player — Jasper Stanley
Another huge mention goes to Jasper Stanley.
Jasper was an absolute rock at the back all day, but it wasn't only his football that stood out.
He walked away with the Coaches' Player award after showing fantastic sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Even parents from opposing teams went out of their way to highlight the kindness and respect Jasper showed towards their players at the end of games.
That means every bit as much to us as lifting the trophy.
We win the right way. We lose the right way.
That's the Warriors. 💙

Grimsby Borough Warriors ⚫️⚪️ vs Clee Town Owls 🦉 – Friendly Match Report

Tonight, the Warriors swapped training for a competitive friendly against a strong Clee Town Owls side, who have built an excellent reputation despite playing up a year.

The opening quarter was evenly contested, with both teams looking to play positive football & create opportunities. Clee Town asked a few early questions of Oscar from distance while also showing their physical presence, but the Warriors stood up well to the challenge.

Clee Town took the lead early in the second quarter, but the response from the Warriors was exactly what the coaches wanted to see. A quickly taken corner & a superb delivery from Jack (cross or shot… we’ll let him decide! 💁🏻‍♂️😅) caused confusion in the box, allowing Jake “Yeboah” to react quickest & level the scores.

Moments later, the Warriors were inches away from taking the lead. Freddie’s relentless pressing forced a loose pass, with Jake striking first time from distance only to see his superb effort crash against the crossbar.

The pressure continued & soon paid off. Oscar blocked a half-cleared ball before Jasper found space on the right. His excellent cross picked out Freddie, who was exactly where every striker should be to finish confidently & put the Warriors ahead.

The third quarter belonged to the Warriors. Playing some of their best football of the evening, they controlled possession, moved the ball with confidence & demonstrated exactly what we mean by The Warriors Way. As the Warriors extended their lead. Oscar D’s relentless pressure forced a mistake in defence, George reacted quickly & found Oscar D in space, who calmly finished to make it 3-1.

The final quarter nearly brought another goal as the Warriors struck the crossbar once again before the Clee Town goalkeeper produced an outstanding save to deny Jack’s sweetly struck half-volley following another excellent team move.

Clee Town ensured there would be a tense finish after a superb late free-kick found its way past both the wall & Oscar. (Yes Freddie & George… it was definitely a foul! 😅)

The final whistle brought a well-earned victory for the Warriors against a highly competitive Clee side. Every player embraced the individual challenges set before kick-off, showing fantastic effort, determination & togetherness throughout. While it may have been labelled a friendly, it certainly felt much more like a competitive match.

🧤 Oscar Munro – Produced several outstanding saves throughout the evening & showed great bravery when coming to claim the ball. A composed & confident performance.

💪 Charles – Challenged to play with confidence & certainly delivered. His work rate, determination & willingness to drive the team forward never dropped from the first whistle to the last.

Clee Town Tournament Report – Grimsby Borough Warriors U10s

Our Warriors should be really proud of themselves today! Taking on five Under-11 teams, our boys showed incredible determination, skill and maturity throughout the tournament. Despite facing older and physically stronger opposition in all but one of the games, the boys never looked out of place, matching every team with their determination, teamwork and fearless attitude.

The Warriors produced some outstanding football today, defended superbly, and created lots of chances. They showed great character in every match. Every player played their part, and worked tirelessly for one another. They really demonstrated the togetherness that has become a hallmark of this team.

The tournament came to an end in the Europa League semi-final, where the Warriors were narrowly beaten by the team who went on to become the tournament champions. Although there was disappointment at the final whistle, the players can be immensely proud of their achievement against five Under-11 sides.

Reaching the last four against older opposition is a fantastic accomplishment and highlights the progress this group continues to make. Their attitude, effort, sportsmanship and quality of football throughout the day were a credit to themselves and showed how far they have come.

A huge well done to every one of the lads 🙌🏻 Keep those heads held high Warriors—you’ve done the club proud. Today’s tournament has shown that the lads can compete with anyone.
