Match report
Chatburn vs Ingelton

After a week that has seen changes within the club at management level Chatburn had to host a side that 6 weeks ago beat them 8-3.

Interim manager Martin Kemp drove the players hard at training during the week drumming in the message that this weekend the game would be different.

A quick pre game meeting confirmed Harris Holgate as captain for the game and even through the warm up you could clearly see the lads were fired up.

A rousing team talk pre game ensured that as the first half kicked off Chatburn came flying out of the blocks, giving the Ingelton players no time or space using the new ShevPress tactic Chatburn won the ball back high up the pitch several times in the first few minutes and some nice quick passing allowed Galloway to get through on goal twice in the opening minute’s, first forcing a save and second time hitting the post, moments later Galloway got through again and a goal mouth scramble came to nothing.
When your on top though, you have to take your chances and a shell shocked Ingelton finally started to get into the game. Still under large pressure from Chatburn they started to find more passes to feet an to get some time on the ball.

Right on the stroke of half time the players desire to prove a point caused there downfall as Blezard pressed a player taking him 40 yards out of position. A quick counter gave them the first bit of space they had all half and Ingelton quickly capitalised with a great cross leading to a composed finish.

The half time team talk was quickly adjusted to take into account the goal, and advice given to several players to take into the second half.

There were also a few choice words for captain Holgate on throwing the ball out while led on the floor, the normally reserved Kempy using his man management skills to help keep his temper in check.

The second half started slowly for Chatburn who were still struggling after the goal so late in the first half, and came under increased pressure.

The midfield and back four though stood strong and while Chatburn failed to get hold of the ball they also never looked like conceding. Giant salmon like leaps from Sedgwick and great sweeping from Mcnulty started to push the Ingelton team further back and the midfield started to find some space, with Fallon, pod and spencer starting to control the game.

Chatburn once again started to create chances with Freeman heading a great cross from Mcnulty just over the bar. Chatburn quickly made all 3 subs bringing on fresh legs against a tiring Ingelton team. The fitness work the team has done lately clearly slowed with all the running in the last 10 minutes coming from the Chatburn team with both the fullbacks overlapping, Ingelton finally crumbled a quick lay off from Garner found Mcnulty in space and another great cross was finished by Fallon on the volley.

Two late saves from Holgate ensured that Chatburn took a well deserved point and highlighted the improvement since the previous game. disappointed not to take all 3 points but a great result for an improving team.

Fallon MOTM

Dick of the week went to Captain Harris Holgate for going out the night before the game, his reaction was to instantly throw Galloway under the bus for going out as well, causing cries of disbelief from the assembled squad.

Interim manager Martin Kemp spoke after todays game " we lost to this side 6 weeks ago 8 -3 , the lads came off the pitch at full time disappointed to finish with a draw. We came away being the better side for at least 80 mins of the game. It shows how far we have come in a short period, i couldn't have asked for more from the lads today."

Brilliant from the boys 💪👏⚽️
