We have a real shortage of female coaches and leaders in Paddlesport. We would like more, diversity makes for a better environment for everyone! So in January this year we applied and were successful in receiving a National Lottery Community Fund Grant to help us deliver a Female Coach/Leader Development programme for 29 brilliant individuals. 🌊🚣‍♀️

The eleven models sold via Amazon with brand names NILIPEI, FLOATTOP, LIXONG, ROSOAMY, GRELANT, AJING, ZENING, STECTO, OMOUBOI, WELLPATH and Rrtizan. The products do not meet the requirements of the relevant regulations and show no demonstration of having been conformity assessed. We recommend owners stop using these products immediately.

The British Canoeing Foundation Safety & Rescue Training course is the first safety course that most paddlers encounter as it teaches the safety skills that the other courses then build on and develop. You learn simple and effective techniques which will allow you to deal with the common problems that you can be confronted with out on the water whether you paddle a kayak, a canoe, a sea kayak or a paddleboard. By the end of the course, you will be a safer paddler as you will have the skill to be able to rescue others in a wide variety of situations and you will be able to empty a variety of boats in a safe and easy way.
Topics covered on this course include:
• Safety and rescue protocols.
• Equipment – what to carry.
• Simple reaching rescues.
• Simple throwing rescues.
• Swimmer tows and rescues.
• Tows and towlines.
• Safe boat emptying for kayaks, canoes and sea kayaks.
• Returning swimmers to boats.
• Dealing with unconscious kayakers/canoeists/paddleboarders.

This is the British Canoeing course that will make you a safer paddler. If you paddle kayak, canoe, paddleboard, sit-on-top, inflatable this is the course where you will learn some solid safety skills that you can then use and adapt to any situation that you encounter whist out paddling.

Club paddle at the weekend from Cuan Sound, under the Bridge across the Atlantic, and round to Eilean nam Freuma for lunch. Then a little bit of wave action before returning home.

Sandy has spaces available on a Paddlesport Instructor course which is being run at Loch Lomond on 23-24 April 2022.

The NEW Paddlesport Instructor is aimed at those running taster/starter sessions and short journeys in very sheltered water environments, within the safety management systems of clubs/centres or other organisations.

The qualification will support the instructor with practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat, initial familiarisation activities, games and activities to support learning and how to use mini journeys to support learning, inspire adventure and exploration. This will be enhanced with support on how these sessions can be delivered in a way that is enjoyable, safe and rewarding.

The process of completing the qualification aims to help prepare candidates for their first paddlesport instructing role; ‘primed and ready’.

The qualification will cover a range of stable craft including kayak (this can be open-cockpit or closed-cockpit), open canoe, sit on top and stand up paddleboard. Candidates will be certificated in one craft but able to instruct a mixed fleet.
