Vegan Day 3 🌱

So far so good, I’m not missing meat and dairy as much as I thought I would be.

I’ve done one upper body workout where I felt slightly more energised than I normally do. I’m training legs later which will really show if my training is benefiting from a plant based diet

I’ve also played a half hour 6-a-side football match where I felt like I could just keep running without getting very tired. This was good because I’ve feeling very sluggish when playing football recently. I even managed to score 5 goals, which for anyone who knows me it’s pretty mad for me to do that whoever I’m playing against 😂

The only thing I have struggled with is hitting my protein targets but I’ve still been getting over 100 grams each day which isn’t too bad. I’m aiming get cooking more in order to organise myself so that I can ensure I’m hitting my protein targets each day.

I would never eat this many vegetables before but I actually really enjoyed and managed to eat the whole lot

🌱tofu stir fry

Very tasty. I wasn’t a fan of tofu on its own but when cooked with some nice spices and veg it’s tasted lovely. Tofu is also high in protein which is very helpful!

🌱Today marks the day that me and will going on a plant based diet for a week.

🌱Having watched the Netflix documentary we found some of the information very interesting, particularly the effect a plant based diet on has on exercise performance.

🌱My current diet involves mostly meat, too much of this meat they I’m eating is very processed thus not very good for me. I’m also lacking in a lot of carbohydrates which is resulting in me having a real lack of energy! This is having a negative effect on my training.

🌱My main goal I aim to get out of this process is to learn more about plant based foods and how they effect my training so that I can hopefully end up with the correct balance of both animal and plant based foods in my diet after this week.

🌱I’ve carried out some fitness tests and a body composition analysis just before starting this plant based diet. When the diet is finished I will do these tests again and compare the result. I will also generally be seeing I feel healthier and more energised throughout the process!

🌱Admittedly we would get more accurate result from doing this for a longer period of time but we decided a week would be the right amount of time for us to stay focused without giving up. However if this week is successful we may consider doing it for longer periods in the future.
