🎯 BCYCD FLOOR MATCHES REPORT
2026/27 SEASON — MATCHDAY 1
Sunday saw Black Country Youth County Darts play our first match of the 2026/27 season.
With new additions made to the squad over the summer, and an increasing number of events now taking place across the youth darts calendar, our players will all have opportunities this season to represent the Black Country on both the stage and floor boards.
While the stage games naturally take centre stage, the floor matches are every bit as important to us. They provide valuable match experience, opportunities for development and another chance for players to proudly represent the Black Country.
Here’s what happened away from the stage on Sunday…

🔴⚪⚫ LADIES SECTION
SET 1
Staffordshire 1–3 Ellie Lowin
Average: 15.01
Ellie returns for her second full season with the squad and produced a really good performance in her season opener.
She was only narrowly denied an excellent 119 checkout after missing tops, before going on to close out a deserved 3–1 victory.
Ellie’s Stats:

SET 2
Staffordshire 3–2 Scarlett O’Sullivan
Average: 13.42
With Staffordshire having three Ladies players due to compete on the floor, Scarlett stepped up for a second match following her stage game.
When this happens, a player’s statistics aren’t included in the official league records, but we still record them as part of our own team statistics.
This was an incredibly close contest that went all the way to a deciding fifth leg. Scarlett played really well, but unfortunately the final double just eluded her.
Both players’ averages would undoubtedly have been higher without some double trouble along the way!

Staffordshire 0–3 Enola Wilson
Average: 14.18
Like Scarlett, Enola played a second match of the day after already representing the team on stage.
Following a very steady stage performance, Enola replicated her 3–0 stage victory with another 3–0 win on the floor.
A little double trouble in the opening leg prevented the average from being considerably higher, but another composed performance completed a perfect two wins from two for the day.

⚫⚪🔴 UNDER 18 SECTION
SET 1
Staffordshire 3–2 Charlie Baker
Average: 17.12
Making his Youth County debut, Charlie produced a very positive performance in a match that went the full five legs.
Unfortunately, the deciding leg went Staffordshire’s way, but Charlie did himself proud and showed exactly why he earned his place in the squad.
A natural leader, Charlie also played a vital role supporting his teammates throughout the matches that followed and volunteered to call and mark games during the remainder of the day.
Unlucky not to get the win, but still a very impressive debut.

Staffordshire 0–3 Jackson Gripton
Average: 15.66
A very special day for Jackson — not only was he making his Youth County debut, but he was also celebrating his 15th birthday! 🎂
He very kindly brought along cakes for the team to enjoy too. 😊
Understandably, Jackson looked a little nervous during his opening leg, but he still managed to take it. That certainly helped settle “The Silent Assassin”, who improved throughout the following two legs before completing an excellent 3–0 debut victory.
He returned to his seat with a beaming smile and later volunteered to call a game to help the Staffordshire team.

Staffordshire 3–0 Cayden Ray
Average: 13.13
An uncharacteristically difficult day at the office for Cayden. Unfortunately, the darts just didn’t fly for him on this occasion.
It happens to every player.
Despite that, Cayden continued to show determination and never gave up, having opportunities to take two of the three legs.
Some days simply don’t go your way, but Cayden still showed great sportsmanship and respect throughout.
Cayden’s Stats:

SET 4
Staffordshire 3–1 Jack Turner
Average: 17.14
Jack took the opening leg with some steady darts, including an excellent 140.
Unfortunately, his scoring consistency dipped slightly over the following legs — something that’s very rare for Jack, but something that happens to every player from time to time.
His opening match of the season ended in defeat, but we all know he’ll bounce back and be pinning that treble 20 again in no time!

Staffordshire 0–3 Andrew Robertson
Average: 20.31
Andrew’s only defeat last season came in the final match of the campaign — ironically against Staffordshire.
He kicked off his 2026/27 campaign with the perfect result, breaking throw twice on his way to a convincing 3–0 victory.
A solid individual performance throughout, with his average certainly capable of being even higher but for a dreaded madhouse checkout in the opening leg!
Andrew’s Stats:

SET 6
Staffordshire 0–3 Lewis Wilkins
Average: 25.91
Lewis played two matches last season after being called into the squad to cover players competing on the Foundation Tour.
Now a full-time member of the squad, he continues to demonstrate exactly why he’s so highly regarded as a matchplay player.
His opening leg included visits of 137, 140 and 100, while his final leg featured four consecutive ton-plus visits. He was incredibly unlucky not to finish it in just 15 darts.
A superb performance from start to finish.

Staffordshire 0–3 Jayden Moss
Average: 22.10
Another Youth County debut, this time for Jayden following an impressive West Midlands Superleague season and an end-of-season title at the ADC Midlands Emerging Regional Final.
Like many players making their debut, there were perhaps a few nerves during the opening leg.
Once he settled, though, Jayden opened the second leg with the perfect visit…

He followed it with consecutive 100 visits before closing out the final leg with more steady scoring to complete an impressive 3–0 victory.

🔴⚪⚫ UNDER 21 SECTION
SET 1
Staffordshire 1–3 Henry Jenkins
Average: 18.11
With both teams having just one additional Under 21 player, there was a single floor match in the section.
Making his Youth County debut — and stepping into the Under 21 section despite being only 17 — Henry produced a very steady performance throughout his set.
One of Henry’s biggest strengths is his patience and self-control, and both were evident throughout the game.
Like several of our other floor players, Henry also volunteered to help Staffordshire by calling matches after his own game and was incredibly supportive of the younger players throughout the Under 18 matches.
He’s already proving himself to be a great addition to our Youth County team.

⚫⚪🔴 FLOOR MATCHES RESULT
Staffordshire 4–7 Black Country
A great start to the season on the floor boards, but the result only tells part of the story.
We had players making their Youth County debuts, established squad members stepping up for additional games, players volunteering to call and mark matches, and teammates staying behind to support one another throughout the day.
That’s exactly what representing the Black Country is about.
Thank you also to Staffordshire for their hospitality and for a great opening day of the new season.
