* Swimming resumes tomorrow—bring on those smiles! 😊
Isabelle, who’s not quite 2 yet, enjoying her holiday with a bit of swimming practice 🏊
Exhaling bubbles through the nose or mouth helps stop water from going into the nose while the face is underwater.
* Builds comfort underwater: Many beginners are nervous about putting their face in the water. Blowing bubbles helps them relax and become comfortable submerging.
* Teaches breathing rhythm: Swimming depends on a rhythm of:
* exhale underwater
* inhale above water
Bubble practice develops this timing early.
We start with simply mimicking mummy or daddy
* blowing bubbles with just the mouth
It may look like play, but it’s actually a foundation skill for nearly every swimming stroke and for water confidence overall.

Air temp isn’t water temp. Stay safe.
Entering cold water makes you GASP.
Cold water increases your breathing and heart rate, causing PANIC.
Your muscles will get too cold, making you uncoordinated and WEAK.
RLSS UK’s advice is:
• Choose lifeguarded spots
• Never swim alone
• Wear bright colours
• Enter the water slowly
• Get out before you get cold
If you get into trouble, Find Your Float.
It may feel warm outside, but the water isn’t.

With warm weather forecast this weekend and into next week, more of us will enjoy spending time in, on, or around water, so it’s important to stay safe.
Almost half (47%) of UK accidental drownings happen between May and August, with higher risks during warmer weather.
Keep yourself and your family safe:
• Check for hazards, including depth, currents, tides, and hidden underwater objects.
• Stay together and swim in lifeguarded areas.
In an emergency:
• Call 999 immediately
• If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help
