Junior Section - Summer Activities.

Our first event was on Sunday 5th July. We had 11 youngsters attending. 5 took part in the medal which will eventually see them secure their first handicap. The rest competed in a fun competition based on the Golf-Sixes league. The weather was kind to us and everyone appeared to enjoy the day.

The fun will continue next Sunday 12th July from 2.00 - 4.00 pm approximately. There is no need to book. If you would like to take part, just come along. The day is free for junior members but there will be a £5 per session charge for family and friends, who will be made most welcome.

Junior Coaching
Friday 19th June saw the completion of our spring / summer coaching classes and our awards ceremonies. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible for the first group (pictured below) so we had games and putting in the clubhouse. The weather had improved in time for the second group, who had a three hole Texas scramble. On completion everyone received their awards from Allan Martin the PGA Professional who has been assisting us. The youngsters are all making steady progress as evidenced by the certificates they received. We are proposing to hold holiday activities during the summer break followed by four weeks of coaching in the autumn. Full details will be forwarded to all the juniors in due course.

Competition at Strathmore Golf Club

The third round of the GolfSixes competition was held at Strathmore Golf Club, Alyth on Sunday (14th June 2026). Fergus, Ashton, Ruaridh & Fraser pictured below were able to play with super-subs Max (Blairgowrie) and Hunter from Strathmore completing our team. Unfortunately, due to safeguarding rules, Max & Hunter are not included in the photo. It was a great day out with super weather, a nice course and some excellent golf. The results were as follows:- North Inch 131 Points; Crieff 127; Blairgowrie 122; Strathmore 122; Muthill 110; King James VI 102.

The next outing is to King James VI (Perth)] on Sunday 28th June 2026 meeting at 2.00 pm for a 2.30 pm start.

Scottish Junior Golf - GolfSixes
Competition at Blairgowrie.

Our juniors were in action again last Sunday 24th May. The venue was the very scenic Wee Course at Blairgowrie Golf Club. The photo below shows our team with Ben, Arlo, Jessica & Jaxon standing, with Ashton & Fraser kneeling. The kids had a great day out and all gave a very good account of themselves.

The format is a points based Texas scramble for which the scores were: King James V1 - 112; Muthill - 112, Strathmore - 124, Crieff - 128,
N. Inch - 128, Blairgowrie - 131. All in all there wasn’t much in it!

Our thanks to all who helped out to make it so enjoyable for our youngsters. The fact that the weather was fantastic was an added bonus.

The next outing is to Strathmore, Alyth on Sunday 14th June 2026.

Thank you to Killin Golf Club for hosting a friendly ladies match with us today. The course was in excellent condition with great views, and the match ended in a draw. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with some lovely company and great food afterwards. 🏌️😃👏

⛳️🏌️‍♀️A bit windy, but no rain for Muthill Ladies Greensomes Open today.

The course was in excellent condition thanks to our greenkeeper Iain and caterer Jacq provided her usual excellent fare. Thanks to all the helpers on the day and those who helped beforehand.

Overall trophy 🏆 winners with an amazing net score of 63 were Muthill’s own Lesley Malkin and Anne Wilson. Congratulations to them.

Pictured below left is Ladies captain Hazel Dean with our runners up, also from Muthill with a net score of 66, last year’s winners Gill Tarbet & Vicki Smith. ⭐️👏

The scratch winners pictured right were from Blairgowrie GC for the 2nd year running - Heather Anderson and Gillian Wallace who had an incredible gross score of 75. 👏⭐️

Tough windy conditions meant that no one found the 9th green at Muthill for nearest the pin competition but the final picture shows Lois Gerrard from Stirling GC who won the longest drive. ⭐️👏 ⛳️🏌️‍♀️

Competition at North Inch, Perth

We have entered a team in this competition for the first time. Our Super Heroes - Ashton, Fraser, Ben, Arlo, Ruaridh & Fergus gave an excellent account of themselves at North Inch last Sunday 10th May against mainly older and more experienced players. The format is a points based Texas Scramble. The results were as follows:-

Muthill - 101, King James V1 - 107, Strathmore - 123, North Inch - 125, Blairgowrie - 126, Crieff - 130.

We would like to thank all parents, guardians and friends who attended on the day and contributed greatly to making it so enjoyable for the boys.
