Set myself a target at the start of the year of becoming a better runner (or just a runner) as it’s always been something I’ve struggled with both from an enjoyment and a capability standpoint. So I thought it would be a good idea to sign up to 2 running based comps in the space of a week, to give me something to aim for and to give some focus to my training.

And it definitely did that, I went from feeling like I was going to throw up a lung after 2 mins of running to finding a relatively comfortable 5k pace and getting weirdly into my split times.

And even though it’s culminated in Gymrace and the much lesser known Hyrox 4 days later, I feel in a very cliched way that the process of sticking to the plan, getting into ‘in my humble opinion’ the best shape I’ve been in for a hot minute and just generally being a more well rounded athlete has been the real take home message of the last 4 months.

I think when working towards any deadline based goal, it’s important to find beauty in the struggle as that’s where you’re spending most of your time.

Also shoutout my brother .o.collective for the pics and for being great pacesetters.

Ok bye I’ll probably post again next year sometime.

Sweating may be an indicator of hard work but.. hard work ≠ good work!

Sweating may be the result of increased heart rate, changes in temperature, anxiety, stress, too much food (especially protein and spice), medication, genetics, caffeine, illness... (yes the list goes on!)

Chasing a sweat can cause you to neglect what’s actually beneficial for your workout.

If you’re resistance training sweat isn’t necessary... good form and active muscle engagement is! 💪

I’m not saying sweating is bad, it is merely a byproduct!
If you are doing highly intensive cardio, your heart rate and body temperature will increase and you’ll unsurprisingly sweat 🏃💨

BUT DON'T SWEAT IT!

Cardio doesn’t require sweating for the benefits to be received

If you go for a long walk, you may not sweat but the consistent elevation in heart rate and the general activity will increase your TDEE and cardiovascular health! 😁

I just received this testimonial from my client Alecia.

When I first met Alecia they were a bit lost at the gym, lacked confidence, eating poorly, making bad decisions, no structured routine.

Alecia thought they just needed a workout plan and they'd be good to go to start building muscle.

Alecia has a structured workout plan and nutrition targets...

However, the main thing we've been focussing on together is mindset & structure.

1:1 Coaching allows clients the flexibility to build a routine and new habits from anywhere in the world.

With Alecia we've been able to build new healthy habits & a robust mindset to achieve sustainability that she’ll be able to maintain for life.

I'm not about quick fixes or yoyo dieting
I'm here to coach you to learn how you can better yourself consistently forever.

I want to support you to reach your goals by keeping you accountable every step of the way - in a way that is simple to understand and easy to maintain!

Feel to reach out in the DMs if you need help with your own goals and staying accountable!

OG 2.0 buffering…

Constantly trying to push my limits and see what this body can do.

Last couple months of training and competitions has highlighted some areas for me to work on, on my way to becoming a well rounded cross lifting donny (me and running ain’t ever going to be boys)

As much as I enjoy training in a way that focuses on my strength, I also enjoy taking myself way out of my comfort zone doing things I’m s**t at, see what I’m lacking and then working back from there…because within that lies the growth🧘🏾‍♂️

So the goal now is to lean into what I’m not so good at, make it better, rinse and repeat.

What are you doing to challenge yourself in the next couple months?

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL ⭐️

Zoe aimed to get photoshoot ready so we put a plan in place and got to work ticking off the daily habits.

No crazy diet had to be adhered to, the plan tapered in abit closer to the shoot deadline, but Zoe was still socialising (or gallivanting as I like to call it) and she was still eating the foods she enjoys, whilst working towards her goal.

I don’t believe there’s only one way to an end goal. We found what worked for Zoe and stuck to it.

Now the aim is strength and functionality 💪🏾

Takeaway from this would be to set a clear goal, then work back from it. Make a plan that works for you on a daily basis and pushes you in the right direction ➡️

Start of the month so perfect time to as well 😁

Nearly time to go again 😤

Pretty obvious this one, but it’s the one you enjoy doing.⁣

..because you’ll stick to it for longer.⁣

I hate running. Tried to get into it in Lockdown 1 because everyone was but the hate just grew.⁣

So I put regular cycling into my routine instead because I know it’s something I enjoy 🚴🏾‍♂️⁣

And I’m still managing to get it done weekly (apart from last week...it was cold 🥶)⁣

There is no Holy Grail of cardio, so just choose something you actually enjoy or find rewarding and then you might not stop it after a week.⁣

..whether its walking, cycling, swimming, running right something else (not saying running is s**t, I just don’t enjoy running for longer than 105 metres).⁣

25/01/2021

I’d say pretty important...⁣

But maybe not as important as we think it is⁣

Personally for me it’s been lacking a fair bit for the past month for numerous reasons.⁣

But it can be pretty handy when starting something.⁣

Expecting it to last for the duration it takes to achieve a long term goal however is unrealistic.⁣

Motivation will go up and down on a month to month, week to week and day to day basis.⁣

So being clear on the end goal, your ‘why’ and your means to getting there will be the best thing to keep you moving in the right direction even when you’re not feeling up to it.⁣
