It's official, the previous notice of the clubs eviction has been rescinded and we can now look forward to a closer collaborative community relationship with the new owners. This is fantastic news and we will be running beginner courses shortly so keep an eye on the club website and follow for further announcements.

Pretty good turnout today and one member achieved her first 252 badge at 20 yards 👏

Hoping for some good news this week from the new Group Owners of the school and sports ground. CMOa Sports Ground has been the home of CMO Bowmen for over 60 years but was leased by Croydon Council, who still own the Metropolitan Open Land in 2005. Our future had been under threat but things have taken a turn under the new ownership of the school... Fingers crossed. 🤗

Meeting with the new owners property manager yesterday. Stay tuned for further updates.

Very positive solutions tabled by the Outcomes First Group, hopefully this is the start of a collaborative and mutually beneficial coexistence at the ground that has been our home for over 60 years.

Something has changed not at Croydon Council who are a total disgrace in all this.

Very positive communication with the new owners has now given us hope. 🤗

1. Internal Scrutiny Committees
Audit & Governance Committee: This is the primary body responsible for overseeing the council’s corporate governance, risk management, and internal control environment.
Independent Chair: Dr Olu Olasode.
Vice-Chair: Cllr Matt Griffiths.
Scrutiny and Overview Committee: While focusing on policy and performance, it also holds the Executive Mayor and Cabinet to account for their decision-making processes.
Ethics Committee: Specifically handles matters relating to probity, ethics, and the Members' Code of Conduct.

2. Statutory Officers
Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, certain officers have a legal duty to ensure the council operates lawfully:
Monitoring Officer: Stephen Lawrence-Orumwense (Director of Legal Services & Governance). He is responsible for reporting any actual or potential breaches of law or maladministration to the Council.

The meeting was very well attended with archers coming out of hibernation after the winter season. Members listened in shock as it was explained what exactly has been going on and shared the committees disbelief of how our community club is being treated and Croydon Councils failures to carry out their statutory duties not only with regard to the issuance of the lease at a bargain basement price in 2005 but their continuing contempt and disregard for statutory duties in dealing with the revelation. We are at escalation level 2 of an official complaint and a short step from this being passed to the relevant secretary of state.
