The Nauld Unathletico, Cumbernauld (2026)

A positive afternoon result wise for Cumbernauld as our pre-season preparations continued with a trip to Carron Huskies Community Football Club and our first ever outing on grass.

The game started at a frantic pace, with both sides creating chances, but it was Cumbernauld who struck first. Liam O'Rourke threaded a perfectly timed pass through to Graham Gardner, who showed great composure to slot beyond the keeper and make it 1–0. His celebration however, was on the questionable side!

The hosts responded well and drew level after we switched off from a drop ball, with a cross to the back post converted to send the sides in level at the interval.

Half-time: 1–1

Carron Huskies started the second half brightly and deservedly edged in front around 10 minutes after the restart.

To our lads’ credit, the response was outstanding. From a corner, Graham Gardner found Cameron MacQueen at the back post, and Cammy hammered a volley into the top corner to level the scores at 2–2.

With the momentum now firmly with Cumbernauld, Cammy was involved again moments later, bursting down the right before delivering a pinpoint cross for Paul Scott, who arrived at just the right time to slide home and put us 3–2 in front.

The final word belonged to Eamonn OBrien… although we’re still not entirely sure where he came from! A trademark missile of a long throw was launched into the Huskies box, causing chaos, and somehow Eamonn appeared, wearing our home kit and a yellow training bib, which nobody else had on may we add, to power a header home and seal a 4–2 victory. We’ll take the goal… the fashion choice is still under review! 😂

A really competitive game against a good Huskies side, plenty of valuable minutes in the legs, and another step forward as preparations continue.

Thanks to the Huskies for their hospitality and the game. We wish everyone at the club the very best for the season ahead.

First game of pre season and Cumbernauld Unathletico took on Craigneuk Progress in a friendly at home.

Cumbernauld took an early lead with a break down right with Graham smashing home to make it 1-0.

Cumbernauld got 3 more before the break with Cammy Ross x2 and Liam O'Rourke with Craigneuk getting 1 to give Cumbernauld a commanding 4-1 lead at half time.

The second half continued with Cumbernauld continuing to press on attacking and finding the net with further goals from Cammy Ross slotting 2 past the Craigneuk keeper to make his 4th of the day, Sean Gannon bagging 3 and Liam securing his brace.

Craigneuk found the net twice more with the final score 10-3 giving Cumbernauld a convincing win. Good for the squad to get minutes in the legs and begin working on the fitness levels again.

The game was played in a really good sprit on a very wet afternoon, all the best to Craigneuk for their season ahead.

The lads have gave everything in our debut season within the Warriors Football Association setup and gained automatic promotion.

WE'VE ONLY GONE AND DONE IT! 🎉

Cumbernauld travelled up to Strathearn United F.C. looking to secure 2nd place in the league and automatic promotion.

The game started in challenging conditions for both teams but Cumbernauld struck first after some good build up play and an inch perfect pass from Liam O’Rourke to set up Cammy Ross to slide the ball beyond the keeper.

5 minutes later Cumbernauld had their second after a cross was cleared out the box to Jordan Walker to find a ball through a packed area to Cammy Ross to slam home his and Cumbernauld's 2nd.

Strathearn then found a way back into the game with a long range strike to make it 2-1.

Cumbernauld had their third after a quick break down the left lead with Liam O’Rourke slipping in Lee Murray to curl it home for 3-1.

Strathearn managed to take advantage of a defensive mix up just before half time to leave the game at 3-2 at the half way mark.

In the second half Cumbernauld upped their game and got the important 4th goal with Liam O’Rourke again linking up with Cammy Ross to complete his hat trick.

Cumbernauld made it five with an excellent ball from Alex Murray putting in Cammy Ross for his 4th of the match.

Five quickly became six after a great run from Nick Douglas breaking through the defence and squaring the ball for Liam O’Rourke to tap home.

Strathearn managed to get a third to make it 6-3 with around 15 minutes left on the clock.

Cumbernauld then won a penalty after a foul on Liam (Tom Daley) O’Rourke was brought down in the box. Cammy Ross stepped up to make it 7-3 and 5 goals for him.

Cumbernauld weren't finished there. After a good break again left Liam O’Rourke to square the ball for Alex Murray to tap home.

7 wins on the bounce for Cumbernauld in the league and promotion secured with a game to spare.

Yesterday saw us host Campsie FC - FFIT down at Ravenswood Playing Fields on Matchday 15 of the Appin Warriors League One.

We had a point to prove after the first game against our opponents back in November.

Lads hyped up ready to go for our 12 o'clock kick off.

1st half started off quite cagey with both sides weighing each other up. Couple of half chances here and there but nothing major. Half way mark and it's 0-0.

2nd half saw us try and take control of the game which lead to us creating a good few chances. We made the breakthrough on the 74th minute with a finish from Cammy Ross who was set up by his strike partner Liam O'Rourke. The duo were quick to link up moments later as we went 2-0 up on the 76th minute with Liam setting up Cammy once again. Campsie managed to get one back on the 79th minute but our lads dug deep and managed to see the game out at 2-1 and bagged the 3 valuable points.

Weather conditions were wild at times but the lads never let that put them off. Each and every single person dug deep and made sure we got the job done.

Couple of friendlies lined up over the coming weeks as our next league outing is an away trip to Craigneuk Progress FC on the 3rd of May.
