Cumnock Juniors 2014s

Great reaction today off the back of Tuesday’s disappointing performance. We faced a Whitletts side who have had a really good start to the season, winning all 4 of their matches.

Cumnock boys were excellent in the first half, front foot football, going in to half time 2 goals to the good. Isaac scoring our first with Rocco scoring from the penalty spot soon after . We had other good chances which we just couldn’t take.

Second half was a much more even affair, with Whitletts fighting hard to get back in to the game. Our boys showed the other side of the game, and managed it really well, not giving away many chances. We managed to see the game out and pick up the 3 points

Our first clean sheet of the season, which is always nice to get. Alan with another solid performance in nets

Game on Friday night so picks in as soon as possible

Well beaten tonight. Down to 10 men after 25 minutes, conceding from the penalty to go 0-2 down and an uphill battle after that. In all honesty we were second best all over the park up until that point. 0-3 at half time so the boys battled on and kept the score line down second half. A tough one to take but Bonnyton were well deserving of their win.

On to Saturday where we face Whitletts in another league encounter

Out the traps quick again today, racing in to a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes with good aggressive forward play. Isaac scoring two of them with Kaydn getting the other. At that, for 15 minutes leading up to half time, we sat off the game and allowed AC Irvine back in to it and they finished the half the stronger team getting a goal just on half time to make it 3-2.

A few changes at break to freshen things up and the boys got a grip of the game again, scoring two good goals, Isaac and Kaydn the scorers. Irvine scored with 5 minutes to go but our boys managed to settle the game down and see it through to win the 3 points

Boys travelled down for a midweek fixture versus Troon tonight and came back up the road with the 3 points.

A real quick start with 3 goals in the first 15 minutes gave us a good standing in the game, arriving at half time with a 4-0 lead.

Second half was an even game, Troon scored a goal with 15 minutes left to give themselves a glimmer of hope, but the boys stood up to the challenge and seen it out.

We move on to Saturday for our 3rd league fixture as we welcome AC Irvine.

Cumnock 1-1 Prestwick

Decent enough start to our first competitive league season with the points being shared in the end. Was a close game with not a lot of clear cut chances for either team. Prestwick scoring from a free kick outside the box with 10 minutes to go.

A great reaction from our boys to going behind, squeezed the game and Rocco ran down the line to win a free kick just outside the box. Kaydn stepped up and whipped a wicked ball in that looped over the opposition goalkeeper in to the net. Kaydn with only a few minutes left also hit the bar to take all 3 points but it wasn’t to be.

Points shared and we move on to a midweek fixture away to Troon on Tuesday night.
