What a brilliant start for our riders at Round 1 of the MTBeast Series at Potash Woods.

Back on the trails and straight into competitive racing, our riders delivered strong performances in a challenging opening round:

• Lucas powered to 7th place in the U9s
• Gabriel rode strongly to take 6th place in the U14s

A fantastic opening to the series, with determination, effort and great riding from both riders as they took on the woodland course.

A big thank you to Micheal and the team for putting on a great first round and getting the MTB East series off to such a strong start.

Last weekend, four riders from Barking and Dagenham Cycling Club took on the challenge of VCL Deux Jours, a demanding youth circuit stage race weekend packed with fast racing, tactical riding and big fields across two days.

The Under 12 riders faced one race each day, while the Under 14's tackled two races per day across different race formats, making it a true test of endurance, focus and race craft.

Our Under 12 riders both delivered strong performances across the weekend, with Lucas U10 riding consistently to finish 15th overall, while Ellison U12 secured an impressive 8th overall after two solid days of racing.

In the Under 14 category, the boys lined up in a huge field of 57 riders, where positioning and staying sharp were crucial from start to finish.

Gabriel put in a determined weekend of racing, managing the pace well and completing all stages in a total time of 2:03:27 to finish 36th overall, a strong effort in such a competitive field.

Taylor produced an outstanding weekend, showing strength and composure throughout every stage. His performances saw him pull on the GC (general classification) jersey on day two, a brilliant reward for his racing across the weekend, before finishing 4th overall with a total time of 1:58:40.

A big weekend, plenty of lessons learned, and more valuable experience gained as the riders continue to develop and aim high.

A huge well done to all our riders who took on the cyclo-cross season this winter battling tough conditions, unpredictable weather, and plenty of mud along the way. Your resilience and determination truly reflect the spirit of Barking and Dagenham Cycling Club!

A special shout out goes to four dedicated riders who competed in the Eastern Cross League, where final positions are calculated from your best six league events:

MTBeast Round 1 at Potash Woods. What a start to the season!

It was brilliant to see so many parents out on course showing the youngsters how it’s done!

Some great racing from our riders:

Lucas smashed it, taking 4th in the U9 boys.

Gabriel placed 10th in the U14 boys, loving the jumps around the course.

🥇 Rubens rode hard all race to take 1st in the U16 boys!

Zak, giving 100% as always and smiling all the way, placed 16th in the Sport 2 males.

Colchester Rovers 'Back to School' Youth races saw 1st place for both Ellison and Taylor in their respective categories on the closed road circuit at Colchester Sports Park last weekend.

Congratulations boys!

Lucas takes 1st place in the U8 category at the opening round of the The Challenge Tires London and SE Cyclo-Cross League in Brighton!

He loved the course at the University of Sussex, especially the technical wooded section, and handled the hills and fast sections like a pro!
