⚽ Darlington Railway Athletic FC – U18 Girls Team Announcement ⚽

Darlington Railway Athletic FC are delighted to announce the formation of our new Under 18 Girls team for the 2026/27 season, further strengthening our girls’ pathway through to our Women’s team.

Our coaching team are fully DBS checked and UEFA/FA qualified, providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality environment for player development. The team will train on Monday evenings alongside our Women’s team and play matches on Saturdays.

We are a friendly, family-oriented and inclusive football club, offering a clear pathway into our Women’s side, who currently compete in the Durham County FA Division One.

By joining Darlington RA, players will have the opportunity to develop their football skills, build confidence, make new friends, and most importantly — have fun! 🙌⚽

⚽️ Darlington RA Women - Match Report - Sunday 12 April ⚽️

Last Sunday Darlington RA Women hosted Horden Community Welfare FC in the Durham County FA First Division fixture and came away with a share of the points after a strong performance from our ladies.

Since the rebuild of the squad the ladies have been unlucky in recent fixtures with the results going against them but continue to battle in every match, determined to show their quality and once again showed the resilience and teamwork that has seen them improve week by week. 💪

Once again, the ladies faced a tough test in the league, but this didn’t faze them as they played some excellent football in the first half and was rewarded with a well worked and rehearsed corner routine. The ball was sent into the danger area by Megan Jenkinson with Ruby Todd in space and latching onto the ball to fire the team in front. Despite their efforts however, Horden struck back just before the break with both sides heading into half time level.

The wind picked up second half, and the women were against it which meant that they had to soak up some pressure from the away side who created a few chances but could convert them due to some great defending from the team. The ladies had one last chance in the final minutes but some good work from the opposition denied us securing a share of the points.

A great point for the ladies and the team is starting to show signs of being a strong team going forward. the team remain determined to finish strongly and will aiming to use this result as a springboard that their recent performances have deserved.

With the season entering its final stages, the team are eager to finish strongly and climb back up the table. The ladies are ready to push on after their last result and securing a point after a bad spell in the league, and they look forward to taking on another big challenge this weekend. 💪

⚽️ Darlington RA Women’s– Result (Sunday 29th March) ⚽️

The women were back in action this weekend as they travelled to Horden Community Welfare FC for a Durham County FA Division 1 fixture, ready to take on the challenge despite recent results.

It was a tough contest for both sides in extremely difficult weather conditions. The ladies started brightly, creating several chances early on. However, playing against the wind in the first half made things challenging, and it took a long-range effort for the hosts to take the lead.

Despite going behind, the team stayed firmly in the game and were unlucky not to reduce the deficit, when Megan Jenkinson was brought down in the box, only for appeals to be waved away by the match officials. The half ended 1–0, but the game was still very much within reach.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with another determined and battling performance from the RA. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on their side again as injuries to key players disrupted the momentum of the team. Frustration grew further when a clear handball in the build-up to Horden’s second goal by their goal scorer went unnoticed, allowing them to extend their lead late on resulting in a 2–0 defeat for the ladies.

it was an excellent team effort in very tough conditions. Special mentions go to Ruby Todd on her return from injury and Player of the Match Megan Jenkinson for standout performances.

⚽️ Supporting Our Female Players ⚽️

Darlington RA FC recently attended the Equal Game workshop delivered by Durham County FA, aimed at encouraging clubs to introduce “Just in Case” sanitary provision packs for female players.

As a club, we are proud to fully support this fantastic initiative and have begun distributing our “Just in Case” bags—containing essential sanitary products—to all teams from Under-10’s upwards that include female players, as well as our Ladies team.

This weekend saw the official presentation of these packs to our U12 Girls, with Helen Edwards, Women and Girls Lead from Durham County FA, in attendance to help mark the occasion 👏

This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening our female pathway and ensuring we are leading the way for female football, and we continue to create a positive, inclusive environment for all players. We’re incredibly proud of the work being done by our coaches and committee to support the growth of the women’s and girls’ game at our club.

We hope these “Just in Case” packs are a valuable addition for our players, and we encourage other clubs to follow suit and consider introducing similar provisions within their own organisations.
