Punjab United, Derby (2026)

16/09/2026

💙💛 NEXT UP 💙💛

We’re back in action this Saturday as Punjab United welcome Mickleover Athletic Reserves to the Racecourse. ⚽🔥

📅 Saturday 19th September
🆚 Mickleover Athletic Reserves
🏟️ Leisure United, Derby Racecourse
⏰ 15:45 Kick-Off

Last time out wasn’t the start to the season we wanted, falling 3–1 away to Castle Donington, but the scoreline didn’t tell the whole story.

There were some really promising spells of football, chances created and clear signs of what this new-look Punjab side is capable of. Ultimately, mistakes cost us and now it’s about learning from them.

This Saturday, we go again.

Our first opportunity to respond. Our first home game, And a chance to show what we’ve been building. 👊🏽

We need the intensity from minute one, we need to take our chances, and most importantly, we need to play with the confidence and togetherness we know this group has.

If you’re free, come down and get behind the lads as we look to get our season up and running! 💙💛

FULL TIME | CASTLE DONINGTON 3–1 PUNJAB UNITED 💙💛

A disappointing result to start our league campaign, but we leave with our heads held high.

This is the beginning of something new at Punjab United, and despite the result, there were plenty of signs today of what we’re trying to build.

We started the game as the better side. Our football was excellent at times, we linked up really well and created plenty of opportunities but unfortunately, we weren’t clinical enough when those chances came.

HT | 0–0

Castle Donington took the lead early in the second half, but the lads responded well.

A. Kaushal produced a brilliant finish to bring us level at 1–1. ⚽👏🏽

Unfortunately, almost immediately after equalising, we switched off from a corner. A man was left unmarked and Castle Donington punished us to regain the lead.

Their third was simply a fantastic strike from outside the box that gave our keeper very little chance.

FT | Castle Donington 3–1 Punjab United

Ultimately, we were our own worst enemy today. We made too many mistakes at important moments and didn’t take the chances we created. At this level, those moments get punished.

But it’s game one of a long season.

We’ve changed a lot. We’re building a new team, a new mentality and a new way of playing. Even in defeat today, we saw a clear improvement and glimpses of exactly what this group is capable of.

We learn from the mistakes, keep working and move forward together.

There’s plenty more to come from Punjab United. 💙💛

Finally, congratulations to Castle Donington on the victory. We look forward to welcoming you for the return fixture later in the season and wish you all the very best for the campaign ahead. 🤝

FULL TIME | BARGATE ROVERS 2–2 PUNJAB UNITED 💙💛

We were looking forward to this one and finally, things are starting to take shape. Firstly, three more debuts today for L.Garton, L.Butler & K.Mwaita. Welcome to the squad, lads. 👏🏽

Before the game, the message was simple. We couldn’t afford another slow start. Everything we’ve been asking for had to be there from the very first whistle.

Our new skipper for the season, M.Langley, took control alongside gaffer S.Hayes and made it absolutely clear what was expected, And for the first time this pre-season, everything clicked.

We played some brilliant football, moved the ball well, communicated and competed from the start. We deservedly went 1–0 up through a lovely finish from L.Shore.

Not long after, A.Kaushal got the goal his performance deserved to put us 2–0 ahead.

We had opportunities to extend the lead, but just before the break Bargate pulled one back with a brilliantly timed volley.

HT: 2–1.

The message at half-time was clear, don’t let this one slip.

We created more than enough opportunities in the second half to put the game to bed, and that’s an area we know we need to improve. When the chances come, we have to be ruthless.

Credit to Bargate, who kept going and put us under real pressure during the final 15 minutes. With virtually the last kick of the game, they found the equaliser to make it 2–2.

Of course we’re disappointed not to come away with the win, especially after leading for so long, but today was about much more than the final score.

That was the Punjab United we’ve been waiting to see.

The communication.
The aggression.
The football.
The togetherness.
The mentality.

Every player wearing the badge today should be proud of that performance.

Pre-season has given us some difficult lessons, but today showed exactly what this group is capable of.

Now we take that level into the season. The foundations are there it’s time to build on them. 💙💛

Thank you to Bargate Rovers for a great game. Good luck for the season and we’ll see you again very soon. 🤝

⚽ MATCHDAY | PUNJAB UNITED 💙💛

Today we travel to Denby Recreation Ground to face Bargate Rovers FC in our latest pre-season fixture.

📍 Denby Recreation Ground
⏰ 13:30 Kick-Off
🆚 Bargate Rovers FC

Today’s opposition will also be competing in our league this season, so although it’s officially a friendly, it’ll be a good opportunity for both sides to see where they stand ahead of the new campaign.

Both teams have changed dramatically over the summer and both will be hungry to get the win.

We’ve been open about our pre-season performances, we haven’t been good enough.

We’ve started games too slowly, allowed teams to take control and then found ourselves trying to fight our way back into matches.

Today we want that to change.

From the first whistle we need aggression, communication, intensity and the desire to win every battle. We need to start games the way we’ve shown we’re capable of finishing them.

Yes, it’s a friendly on paper, but for us, today is a must-win game. It’s about mentality, confidence and showing that the work we’re putting in is starting to come together.

Time to set the standard from minute one.

FULL TIME | Punjab United Reserves 3–7 Pex Hill FC 💙💛

Another pre-season fixture completed, and this one gave us plenty to think about.

We simply weren’t at it from the first whistle.

Heads dropped too easily, communication wasn’t good enough and we were missing the aggression and intensity you need to compete in men’s football.

We found ourselves 3–0 down very early, and against a side with the quality of Pex Hill, you’re always going to make life difficult for yourself.

Credit where it’s due, Pex Hill were by far the better footballing side in the first half and deservedly went into the break 5–0 ahead.

At half-time, some honest words were said in the changing room by the gaffer and captain. We needed a reaction, and we got one.

We asked the lads to be braver. Communicate. Compete. Show aggression. Play our football and show why they’re here.

The response in the second half was exactly what we’ve been looking for.

We also had several young lads step up from our U18s. They were given instructions, listened to everything asked of them and showed that they’re capable of competing at this level.

Suddenly the communication was there. The aggression was there. The football we’ve been working towards was there.

We managed to pull three goals back and showed a completely different side of ourselves, but unfortunately the damage had already been done.

Final score: 3–7.

No excuses from us. Pex Hill fully deserved their victory and were an excellent side.

A massive thank you to everyone at Pex Hill FC for making the journey down. Great football team and, more importantly, a great bunch of lads. We look forward to hopefully doing it again next year.

All the best for your season. 🤝

For us, we learn and we keep building.

That second-half mentality has to become our first-half mentality.

The work continues. 💙💛

𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛𝗗𝗔𝗬 💙💛

This weekend we welcome Pex Hill FC Pexhill FC who make the journey from Cheshire for another important pre-season fixture.

This will be a real test for the lads against a side that enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season. Pex Hill finished top of the league, going unbeaten with an incredible record of 18 wins and 2 draws, while finishing with a remarkable +103 goal difference.

It’s exactly the type of challenge we’re looking for as we continue building towards the new season.

For us, pre season isn’t just about results. It’s about building fitness, developing partnerships across the pitch, and continuing to implement the standards and style of football we’re creating at Punjab United Reserves.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the lads perform.

📍 Coronation Park, Chewton Street, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, NG16 3HB
🕚 Kick-Off: 15:00

After the match, everyone is welcome to join us back at Eastwood CFC for food, drinks and a chance to meet the players and management.

We look forward to seeing you there. Come and get behind the lads! 💙💛
