What a win🤩

On Sunday, the lads produced what we feel was our best performance yet. 9 goals scored and a solid defence creating another clean sheet.

Confidence levels are really high within the group now. Playing a really organised style of football and being clinical with the chances we create. A perfect way to finish the year.

All the best to Spondon for the rest of the season 🤝

That’s us done for Christmas now before we face Ockbrook in the new year, for the second time this season.

Enjoy the festive period everyone 🎄

Spondon had a slow start but have been picking up some impressive points in recent weeks to see them unbeaten in their last 4, winning 3 of these games.

After 2 weeks of cancellations, the lads returned in style with a 3-0 victory, over Chellaston Wanderers. Also producing our second clean sheet of the season.

A very tough game for the boys this weekend, starting slow, allowing Chellaston to maintain a lot of the possession early on.

The lads stayed solid defensively throughout the first half, despite the pressure and with a quick attack the lads went into the break 1-0 up, courtesy of a great finish from Brad Daly.

The second half told a different story. We grew into the game creating more and more chances and eventually, our football was rewarded. A fantastic ball through from Bacon, found Brad on the end of it once more. Before Bacon scored one of his own, converting a penalty won by Dan Skinner.

The lads then went down to 10 men due to a questionable challenge from Gstone, who still thought he was fighting for his midlands title đź‘€, but the lads kept up the quality and we saw the game out well.

All in all a good day at the office.âś…

After last weeks game was rained off, the boys are itching to get back to it this weekend, against Spondon Liberal.

Spondon had a slow start to the season but have picked up some good form, winning their last 4 league fixtures.

The boys are expecting this to be one of the toughest fixtures yet with all teams now properly settled into the league.

Come down and support the lads in what promises to be a good, but very cold one🥶.

🚨GAME OFF🚨

Like many games this weekend, our fixture against Raynesway Spartans has unfortunately been cancelled, due to the rain over the last few days.

After a pitch inspection of our home pitch, Woodlands have decided the ground is unplayable and all games there have been cancelled this weekend.

We look forward to seeing Raynesway in the rescheduled fixture but for now, the focus moves to training on Tuesday, before we face Spondon Liberal next Sunday, at home.

Why are we still seeing more and more empty 4G pitches?

Yes, 4G pitches are an incredible addition to grassroots football. They’re reliable, all-weather, low-maintenance, and can be used year-round. In theory, they should be a game-changer for community clubs, schools, and grassroots organisations.

But here’s the problem...

What’s the point of having world-class facilities if no one can afford to use them?

We’re seeing state-of-the-art 4G surfaces installed across the country — but instead of being filled with kids, volunteers, and grassroots teams, they’re often sitting empty because hire costs are through the roof.

Many local clubs, who rely on fundraising, volunteers, and subs from parents, are being priced out of using facilities built in the name of "community sport." And that defeats the whole purpose.

If these pitches are meant to improve access, raise standards, and promote health and wellbeing — then access has to be affordable. Otherwise, they’re just shiny showpieces that benefit the few, not the many.

Football should never be about who can pay the most. It should be about who shows up, puts in the effort, and wants to play.

Empty pitches help no one. Full pitches change lives.

Let’s make sure these incredible facilities actually serve the communities they were built for.

This Sunday!

More league action this weekend as Sparta take on Raynesway Spartans, for the second installment of the Spartan Derby.

The previous fixture against Raynesway marked the clubs first ever competitive fixture, with Sparta coming out on top with a 4-3 win thanks to two last minute goals, to sn**ch the game.

An interesting and exciting match to see the improvements both teams have made from the opening day.
