Derby Athletic 4-0 Raynesway

What a night, what a way to end our first ever season as a football club! Raynesway battled and battled, and we seen a first half with very limited chances, either side may have taken a lead.
Half time we made three changes, Jay, Harlee and Mason entering play and all having a positive impact on the game.
We began so much better and took complete control of the ball and the game, Harlee found Jono, who calmly chipped over the keeper to give us the lead.
Shortly after Harlee again found Oscar who headed home, and in typical Oscar fashion somehow ended up the other end of the pitch topless with his celebration 🎉
The goals didn’t stop there, Sams delivery met Dicko who took himself into double figures for the season from centre half, and we ended with a fourth, Noah beating the defence with one pass, and Mason finding the net to continue his strong end to the season!

As the season has come to an end, we’d like to thank each and everyone of you that have taken your time to support the boys each week!

It’s Cup Final time again this Friday 👇🏻

Derby Athletic 13-5 Raynesway

As the league season came to an end, we decided to have some fun with it today, player positions came out of a hat drawn before kick off, a special debut, and some goals still flown!
In what was a dress rehearsal for Friday nights cup final, we still got the job done, end to end, seen a half time score of 8-4!
Second half Baggy came outfield and got amongst the goals himself, but today was all about Grandad Simpson, getting on and playing with each generation of Simpsons😅🤝well played to Raynesway and we will be re united friday night!

Derby Athletic 1-3 Honeycomb

Wednesday night seen us exit the cup, we battled against a very good honeycomb side, two divisions above us, but we did ourselves proud! Taking an early lead when Jono headed home from Simmos cross in.
We then did well to frustrate them for a while, before conceding before the break, second half we battled away but again honeycomb went on to score two more goals to take them into the cup final. We fell short this time round but to get this far was a moment in itself!

Friday 22nd May - Division 1 Cup Final @ Borrowash 7pm Ko ⚽️

The lads started strong seeing a few chances wide in a first half that was end to end without much end product!

After a few tactical changes at the half the boys showed much more promise, with Ollie winning a penalty early on. Mason stepped up and put the penalty away. 1-0.

The boys continued to press with Harlee playing Mason through for his second, and then Harlee again playing Mason through for his 3rd!

In the final 15 minutes Ollie cut inside for a great strike, saved by the keeper, mason followed in for his 4th of the game!

The lads weren't done yet tho, Taylor played Harlee down the right wing, Harlee put the oposition left back on skates, and slotted a left footed shot into the bottom corner!

Derby Singh 2-4 Derby Athletic

Midweek game, had abit of everything you’d want in football. The boys got off to a fast start, with Mason finding Jono within the first minutes to give us a lead, within a few minutes again Jono doubled his tally from another defence splitting pass from Mason.
Then we took the foot of the gas and credit to Derby Singh, they battled and battled and found themselves back level going into half time. Two poor goals to concede on our behalf.
Half time we made a change and went out playing better football, but again Derby Singh were slightly on top, we won ourself a penalty which unfortunately didn’t get put away.
Final ten minutes Jono found Harlee who slotted to give us the lead, Singh came and piled pressure on which lead to Kyle finding Harlee again 1 on 1 with the keeper, taking the chance and making it 4-2 with the final kick.

Shoutout to Derby Singh, team at the bottom end of the table, showed exactly why they shouldn’t be!

Rissotto 1-2 Derby Athletic

Tough game yesterday in tough circumstances, more than half a squad away, injuries, and hang overs but the 13 lads who shown up did brilliantly!
First half was a battle, not much going on few half chances that we felt we had the better of.

Second half with a formation change, and change in personnel we started to get chances and Jono headed home to give us the lead from a Harlee corner.
Found ourself level shortly after through a lapse of concentration but we dug in and kept going, Harlee again found Mason who slotted home to give us a well worked for win.

Chellaston 2-3 Derby Athletic

What a night, what a win, made sure to do it the hard way once again! After only 10 minutes we found ourselves 2-0 down, gifting them one goal, and unfortunately giving them another but this team doesn’t quit, even when it’s against us.
We piled on the pressure and before half time we managed to pull one back, Oscar getting us back into the game!

Second half we began how we ended the first, in control creating chances and limiting them to the bare minimum, with only 5 minutes remaining Sam found Jono, who headed us level! With penalties looming over us, Oscar himself had other ideas, winning us the game with almost the last kick.
