Opposition Player of the game

✨Nilah✨

For the second week running, our superstar winger Nilah was picked for player of the game and we certainly can see why. The amount of work she puts in for her team is incredible.

First half she helped out the defence with tracking back and recovering tackles. In the second half she then showed her attacking skill with two great goals, her crossing was also brilliant. Definitely something we are going to work on in training, because following those crosses into the box is going to create lots of opportunities for others!

Player of the game

✨Reeva✨

Reeva joined us at the end of last season as we prepared for the jump to 9-a-side and wow - what an incredible player. Not only has she slotted into the team perfectly but it has felt like she has been with us since the start.

Reeva is fast becoming the all round midfielder; reads the game so well, always looking to link up with others and has an eye for goal. All of that was on display yesterday and we were particularly impressed with her willingness to header the ball (even from a keepers kick from hands).

Well done Reeva!

⚽️ Div 3 League game - Matchday 1

✨Dereham Magpies 10 - Acle 0 ✨

What a start to the season by the Magpies!

Yesterday we travelled to Acle for the first game of the season and the girls came flying out the blocks. For the first time in a very long time, the whole squad was available for the game and it was great to have all the girls together for the opening fixture.

All the hard work they have put into pre-season, could be seen on display today. Great shape with positional awareness and hard pressing to win the ball back.

Ellie-Mai started the scoring yesterday with a goal at the 5 minute mark, with Leah scoring two minutes later with an excellent finish. Reeva got the 3rd just before the half time whistle!

At half-time our captain Evelyn asked if she could give the team-talk and it certainly had an impact. The girls come out of the second half really fast with Nilah scoring two goals in 2 minutes, the first being a shot/cross from the edge of the box!

Rosie then scored with a long range looping effort, Grace was next to score with a tidy strikers finish and her trademark fierce celebration! Ellie-mai got her double with an amazing long range effort into the bottom corner!

Leah who had picked up an injury in the first half, came back on and got her hat-trick with the final two goals of the game!

Well done Girls, an excellent performance.

Opposition Player of the Match

✨Nilah ✨

Ok, so we can talk about one of the players today! Nilah said to me before the game, that her Dad predicted she would score today but she didnt believe him. Well I think her Dad should let me know these predictions in the future so I can pick the team around it. Is she going to score next week?

Nilah was untouchable today, she scored the first goal and then assisted the next 3 all in the first half. Playing on the right wing, her pace and crossing ability was exceptional.

Well done Nilah, keep that confidence up, you will be any fullback’s worst nightmare!

Player of the Match

✨All of them✨

This is only our 3rd ever win as a team. Win or lose the girls always try their hardest and never put their heads down.

They have turned up to training and matches each week and learnt how to play this game we all love. Today was one of those games where it was a bit special and impossible for us to pick just one player as it would be unfair on all the others, it was 10/10 performances all over the pitch.

They have shown us now the standard they can play at, challenge is to keep that going!

Our last pre-season friendly before the season starts next week.

This is the best we have ever seen the girls play. I don't know if the they all had Weetabix for breakfast but something clicked with them today. Every one of them battled hard, in every position. The defence were rock solid, the midfield transitioned the ball well and the forwards were clinical in front of goal.

The first half the girls were relentless and scored 5 goals before half time. Team talk was a simple one - “same again please!”

Wymondham responded well at half time and the second half was back and forth between both teams with chances at both ends. A special mention to their keeper, who made great saves throughout the game but also made an incredible triple save to keep Cia out!

The Dereham girls pressure paid off in the end, with another goal for Leah who capped off an incredible performance with a hat-trick!

Not much more to say, keep going girls, your hard work each week is paying off!

Opposition player of the match

✨Eliza✨

A game of two halves for this player. The first half was not the best she has had in a Dereham shirt, however the second half was a different story. Save after save and goal kicks that are improving with each game.

The match ended with an incredible double save, where she saved one shot and pushed it across the goal and then she bravely threw herself in front of the ball stopping a certain goal.

Well done Eliza keep going!
