Plumtree Miniature Shetland Pony Stud

Introducing Plumtree Buck, Born 6th of June, although he wasn’t due until today! What can I say about this little dude?! What a little character he is! His dam gave us no warning she was going to foal. We watch our mares very carefully but we did infact miss this foaling and got quite the shock when we checked the cameras and there he was standing in the pen. Watching the cameras back he was born at 3am and the birth, luckily, went perfectly. At 2 days old he had a bit of constipation, so we had the vet out who also checked his IGG which was perfect. Named for the fact he loves to buck his poor dam, and also gave our lovely vet Libby a couple of bucks too! He is the friendliest little man, and incredibly confident, not phased by anything, making getting photos of him a challenge. We are blessed he is a little chunk too, with a beautiful head and lots of bone. Photos taken 14th of June.

Next born on 11th of June we have Plumtree Highlander! His dam Plumtree Hersey’s Kiss, known as Missy, gave us plenty of hints the night she foaled... she got super affectionate, had been quiet in the field and when we brought her in I checked her bag which was huge, waxed and dripping milk. So we went in and kept a close eye on her on the cameras and sure enough at 11.15pm she gave birth to this stunning c**t. A very evenly marked blue dun and white. His full brother has done exceptionally well in the show ring so here’s hoping he follows in Henrick's footsteps. He's a bold little man who loves to play with both Buck and the older boys! He has a lot of presence.

Another mare that kept us waiting and caused many a sleepless night, Plumtree Theodora (aka Teddy) finally foaled, in true Teddy fashion, at 4.55am 23rd of May. We had been watching her day and night for over a week when her first ever filly foal arrived! A stunning, minimally marked, buckskin dun and white. As she is by Plumtree Hendrix she could roan too, but her coat is so light in colour it is impossible to tell by checking her roots. I guess we will have to wait until she looses her foal coat to find out! We have named her Plumtree Tennessee!

Now we have finished foaling it’s time to get caught up with our introductions!

On the 5th of May in true Tiggerella fashion we had zero warning she was going to foal! But we always keep a close eye on our mares, checking them at least hourly and as I was up changing a nappy while watching the cameras, she got down to foal! I quickly called Mum who rushed out to the barn with me close behind to welcome this little filly! She is such a sweetheart, with a character so much like her dam, we have named her Plumtree Tigger after her in a way. Plumtree Tigerella's nickname is Tigger!

Bext, on the 7th of May, we had been watching Jenny on the field camera all day in anticipation of her foaling, and as it was a coldish grey day, we decided to get the pregnant mares in earlier than normal in hopes she would foal earlier... and the good old'gal obliged foaling at the very civilised hour of 8.30pm, to this unique little c**t. No prizes for guessing who his Daddy is! Like his Dad he is a bit of a clown, with a friendly and curious personality! We only covered a couple of mares with Plumtree Sparrow Hawk last year and unfortunately we lost the other foal born, sadly, far too early to survive.

Our next 2 foals arrived within hours of each other. On 3rd of May, after 5 days of wax and none stop watching, Plumtree Dakota gave birth to a stonking c**t we have named Plumtree Denver! It was bank holiday weekend and we had just finished having a family dinner at Plumtree and checked the field camera for the 1,000th time that day in time to see Dakota down and pushing! We ran straight out to the field and got there just as this beautiful boy was born at 6.40pm. Well marked with a lovely head, we are over the moon with him. Not wanting to be left out, that morning Plumtree Jazzabell had waxed up too, but she decided to wait until we were in the barn checking on Dakota & Denver one last time before bed, when she got down and started to push. At 11.25pm she had a stunning buckskin dun and white c**t. This little guy has bags of charisma, is very evenly marked and has the prettiest little head, the photo really doesn’t do it justice! We have named him Plumtree Jagger (inspired by Mick Jagger)

Speaking of Plumtree Hendrix, we brought him home at the weekend ready to go out with his girls. I had the camera ready and here he is fresh off the box still in his winter scruffs! Video in comments.

Not the best start to our 2026 foaling season with poor Autumn loosing her foal in March and developing hyperlipemia, visit from our vets and round the clock nursing thankfully she has recovered well.

20th April saw an early appearance of Plumtree Dash. Born at 10pm I'm thinking I could be in bed by 12. But typical c**t sucking the top of the mares bag, luckily Donna is such a good mare to deal with just stood no headcollar on while I milked her to feed her foal. It was a very long, cold night in the barn.
My brilliant vet Damian arrived just after lunch the next day to tube the foal and he did the squeeze too, within an hour the foal was latched on! 18 very long hours later I could breath.
Igg test the next day read 400 as expected it was low, so my other fab vet Libby assisted by the lovely Ellie gave the plasma transfusion at home. I'm very happy to say Dash Hasn’t looked back since.
