Calling all Mini Robins ‼️

We are looking for Robins mascotts throughout this season to join our Downton Football Club players ❤️🤍

We had multiple teams and players who experienced this last season…and their smiles on their faces said it all 😊🥰

The continued their fine start to the season with a fantastic team performance against a determined Verwood side in both teams' second fixture of the season 💪

Both teams battled hard throughout, with Verwood making the Robins work for every ball, but Downton responded brilliantly with strong teamwork and plenty of positive attacking play 👏

A huge well done to Verwood for their effort and attitude, and congratulations to the Downton Robins girls on another impressive performance. 👏🏻🔴⚪️

The Robins worked brilliantly together, defending strongly and playing some excellent football. A fantastic team performance from all the girls, with plenty of determination and smiles from start to finish. Well done, Robins! ⚽

Downton U15 Reds maintain 100% winning start ❤️

The followed up last week’s win with a solid 2-0 victory at home against a decent Shooters team 💪

The Reds dominated the first period, camped in the opposition half and creating numerous chances. Titus, Barney and Jack C were winning the midfield battle while Flynn, Stan and Aaron pressed their backline relentlessly 👏

The dominance was rewarded when Aaron found space in the box, cutting in on his left foot and planting a shot right in the top corner 🗑️

Titus went close from a Stan corner and the Reds had numerous more chances, so were disappointed to go into half time only 1-0 up. The 2nd half was more even as Shooters came into the game, realising their fortune at only being 1-0 down. Ben made a couple of good saves and Downton’s back line had some defending to do. The Reds finally began wrestling back control, going close again with Aaron just missing after excellent work from Flynn and Stan, and Barney clipping the cross bar with a freekick ⚽️

Finally, the Reds got reward for their dominance, with Aaron tapping home from close range after a Shooters mistake from a corner. Three points and a clean sheet were fully deserved and Downton Red sits atop the table after two games 🥰

Our ‘s kept their unbeaten start to the season with a hard thought 3-1 win against a good Whitchurch side 👏

On a challenging pitch and a strong wind. Both teams struggled. Downton took the lead after half time with a well taken header goal from Jack W from a nice volley cross from Rafe 💪

Whitchurch levelled straight away. Downton pushed on and had plenty of chances to take the lead. Finally 2 quick goals from Jack W and Titus took the game away from the opposition 🔴⚪️

Our ‘s continued their league campaign with a first home match of the season as they took on Braishfield Bees 🐝

Braishfield started well, and with our Robins uncharacteristically taking time to settle into the game, Braishfield took a deserved lead 👌

With our Robins now growing into the game, Albs made a great run down the right, before delivering a pin point cross expertly finished by Zach 👏

Braishfield reacted immediately scoring a great individual goal following a dazzling run ⚽️

As the game moved into the second half, Robins were now creating numerous chances, and two quick fire goals from Henry put us back in control 🔥

A fine turn and finish by Zach followed, with our Robins saving the best to last as Albs won the ball in midfield before driving forward and unleashing a left foot rocket into the top corner 🚀

Thank you to James and his Braishfield team who played some fantastic football throughout, football played the right way 🤝

Well done to Mickey, who was deservedly voted player of the match by coach Kieran 🏆

Comfortable win for Downton U15 Reds over Braishfield Bees Gold ⚽️

After a short but hectic ‘4 games in 9 days’ pre-season after the summer holidays, our hit the ground running with a solid win over Braishfield Bees Gold in their first Testway league 2 game of the season 🔴⚪️

Aaron opened the scoring after just three minutes with an acrobatic overhead kick. Soon after, Titus added a second with a solid header from Barney’s corner - a potent combination that threatened numerous times last season, woodwork and all, without ever quite getting across the line! ⚽️

With debutant Jaydon pulling strings in the midfield the Reds launched wave after wave of attack, hitting the woodwork numerous times, and adding a third before half time with another goal for Aaron. In the 2nd half, The Reds emptied the bench and controlled the game well, despite conceding an unlucky goal with one of Braishfield’s rare attacks 🐝

But Titus restored the lead soon after and the Reds ran out comfortable 4-1 winners. A better start compared to last season when an opening day defeat eventually cost them promotion at the end of the season by a single point 🤝

Brilliant start to the season today for the U9 Robins with a superb performance at Braishfield Bees 👏

What was most pleasing was seeing the team put into practice exactly what we’ve been working on in training 👌

It was great to then see it all knit together in the match, with lots of calm decisions from the keepers and several really good passing moves of 4, 5 and even 6 passes in a row 🔥

Goals today came from Jack (2), Riley (2), Jenson and Finn, with Finn’s flying into the top corner 🚀

Player of the Match was Jack.
Theo picked up Larry the Wingman for some really noticeable progress in looking up and choosing his passes rather than just kicking the ball forward 🏆

Really positive performance and, most importantly, some excellent signs that the training is starting to show in matches. Well done everyone 👏

⚽ Downton FC U10 Robins – Match Report 🐦

Our newly formed ‘s played their first match together as a group today, with quite a few new players joining the team, and there were lots of positives to take from the game. 🙌⚽️

We faced a strong and well-organised Upper Clatford side, who got a few early goals, but the Robins continued to work hard, settled into their new positions and started to understand how they can play together as a team 👌

The boys showed some great moments of football and managed to score two fantastic goals of their own! ⚽️🥅👏

⚽ Preston opened the scoring with a lovely lob from just outside the box, showing great awareness and composure

⚽ Luca then really cracked one into the top-right corner — a fantastic finish! 🚀⚽️

The scoreline certainly doesn’t tell the whole story. For a first game together, the boys played really well, worked hard and showed plenty of promise. As they get to know each other and become more comfortable in their positions, we’re sure they’ll continue to grow and improve over the coming weeks and months. 💪⚽️

Super well done to all the boys! 👏🐦 We’re really proud of them and looking forward to next week.

Our ’s started their league season on the road as they travelled to Wi******er to play Worthy’s, which is always a lively encounter 🔴⚪️

After a strong pre season, our Robins started fast with two early goals from the exceptional Zach to put us firmly in control 🔥💥

Under the watchful eyes of new coach Kieran, the boys were playing some exceptional football, passing the ball so well on a superb pitch and implementing the work from training👏

And that’s how it stayed until the game ignited in the last quarter. Worthy’s, who themselves were playing some good football, pulled a goal back with a long shot ⚽️

As the clock ticked on, James picked up the ball on the left, skilfully glided past multiple players before cutting in and superbly finishing into the far corner, followed by scenes of jubilant celebrations ⭐️

A great start to the new season, well done Robins…POTM, the outstanding Henry 🏆
